Funding Opportunities
Studies Program on Trauma and Justice-Involved Youth (DOJ) Deadline: June 23, 2016
OJJDP is seeking applications for funding under its fiscal year (FY) 2016 Studies Program on Trauma and Justice-Involved Youth. This program will support original research; design expansions to current research; and/or secondary analysis of existing data to provide objective, independent knowledge about (1) the developmental pathways of youth from violence exposure and trauma to justice involvement; (2) the implications of justice involvement on possible retraumatization; and (3) the development of culturally appropriate, evidence-based trauma-informed practices. OJJDP is particularly interested in proposals that seek to investigate the experiences of youth whose justice system involvement is often understudied, specifically youth who are Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native, LGBTQI, and girls. The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NIDA R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nations biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs. Comprehensive Alcohol Research Centers (NIH) Deadline: December 5, 2016 The ultimate purpose of the NIAAA Alcohol Research Center program is to provide leadership in conducting and fostering interdisciplinary, collaborative research on a wide variety of topics relevant to the Institutes mission. These topics include, but are not limited to: the nature, etiology, genetics, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of alcohol use disorders and their biomedical, psychosocial, and economic consequences across the lifespan. New Dataset Available - High School Longitudinal Study 2009-2013
The High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS:09) is nationally representative, longitudinal study of 9th graders who were followed through their secondary and postsecondary years, with an emphasis on understanding students' trajectories from the beginning of high school into postsecondary education, the workforce, and beyond. What students decide to pursue when, why, and how are crucial questions for HSLS:09. Click here for more information.
NIJ Report - Violence Against American Indian and Alaska Native Women and Men: 2010 Findings From the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey
This report examines the prevalence of violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women and men, using a large nationally representative sample from the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS). More specifically, it provides estimates of sexual violence, physical violence by intimate partners, stalking, and psychological aggression by intimate partners. It also provides estimates of interracial and intraracial victimizations and briefly examines the impact of
violence. Results should be used to raise awareness and understanding about violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women and men. Click here for more information.
