Funding Opportunities
Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP) Program: National Research Center for Parents with Disabilities and their Families (ACL) Deadline: July 5, 2016
The intended outcome of this particular DRRP is to generate new knowledge about effective policies, practices, services or interventions for addressing the needs of parents with disabilities and their families. The DRRP must contribute to this outcome by conducting research to identify or develop promising practices for serving and supporting parents with disabilities in the community, and by testing the effectiveness of at least one of these practices or interventions. The DRRP must also collect and/or analyze existing data to provide national estimates of the prevalence of parenting with a disability in the United States. Click here for more information.
Leadership Training for People of Color Living with HIV (HRSA) Deadline: July 8, 2016
This announcement solicits applications for the fiscal year (FY) 2016 Leadership Training for People of Color Living with HIV program. This program supports the development and delivery of training programs for people of color living with HIV of all ages (e.g., Black, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN), and Asian/Pacific Islander (API)) to enable full, active and engaged participation on planning bodies, medical and support care teams, boards of directors, and other mobilization efforts to address the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy: Updated to 2020 (NHAS 2020). Improving Access to Care: Using Community Health Workers to Improve Linkage and Retention in HIV Care(HRSA)
Deadline: July 12, 2016
This announcement solicits applications for fiscal year (FY) 2016 to support a single organization that will serve as the Technical Assistance and Evaluation Center (TAEC) for a new initiative entitled Improving Access to Care: Using Community Health Workers to Improve Linkage and Retention in HIV Care. The goal of this three year cooperative agreement is to increase the utilization of community health workers (CHW) to improve access to and retention in health care; and to improve health outcomes for people living with HIV (PLWH) by strengthening the health care workforce, building healthier communities, and achieving health equity among racial and ethnic minority populations. University of Maryland Calvin J. Li Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Asian American Studies Deadline: Until filled The Calvin J. Li Fellowship is intended to support a recent PhD with expertise in the issues facing second-generation children/adolescents of immigrants to the United States. A focus of the fellowship program is research on how children of parents from Asian backgrounds navigate family, community, and life in the United States. Successful applicants might focus on the challenges facing second-generation youth, identity formation, racial and ethnic representation, acculturation, transnationalism, family dynamics, or closely related topics. Conferences & Trainings CDC Webinar - Reducing Disparities in Teen Birth Rates: A National Snapshot from CDC and Examples from the Field May 19, 2016 - 1:00 PM EDT
In this webinar, CDC's Division of Reproductive Health will highlight the findings of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) that will be released on April 28 on reductions in teen birth rates and persistent disparities. Program partners in North Carolina and South Carolina will describe their efforts to address the social determinants of health through the OAH/CDC Teen Pregnancy Prevention Community-Wide Initiative (2010-2015) that may have contributed to narrowing of differences in birth rates between white and black teens in the targeted communities in their states.
