The CDC National Centers of Excellence in Youth Violence Prevention: Building the Evidence for Community- and Policy-Level Prevention (CDC)

The purpose of this announcement is to fund Youth Violence Prevention Centers (YVPCs) to advance the science and practice of youth violence prevention and to reduce youth violence in one or more geographically defined, high-burden communities by implementing and evaluating a community- or policy-level preventionstrategy or combination of such strategies. The Oklahoma Tobacco Research Center (OTRC) Post-Doctoral Fellowship
The Oklahoma Tobacco Research Center (OTRC) of the Stephenson Cancer Center at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City is recruiting post-doctoral fellows (1-3 year appointments) who aspire to become independent academic researchers. We invite applications for six positions with an emphasis on tobacco use and cessation, cancer prevention, tobacco regulatory science, affective neuroscience, and health disparities research.

Special Issue of Families in Society - Homelessness: Service Needs, Prevention, and Intervention
EXTENDED Deadline: December 1, 2015
The American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare recently issued a grand challenge calling upon the social work profession to end homelessness. Yet, while homeless people are those at highest risk across categories of concern, they remain outside of core service delivery. Both practice wisdom and research are key to better understanding the service needs of people who are marginally housed and homeless. Policy, program, and practice solutions can then be developed to respond to service needs, resulting in more stabilized functioning and well-being. Click here for more

USDA Economic Research Service Chart - Disability and Poverty Rates Among Rural Veterans Have Increased from 2008 to 2014
Between 2008 and 2014 the share of working-age rural veterans with a disability increased (from 20.3 percent to 22.6 percent), as did their poverty rate (from 8.9 percent to 11.0 percent). Click here for more information.
