Funding Opportunities
New Pathways for Fathers and Families (ACF)
Deadline: July 7, 2015
This FOA was formerly titled "Responsible Fatherhood: Improving Relationships and Economic Outcomes for Fathers and Families." The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Family Assistance (OFA) is announcing its intent to competitively award demonstration projects that support activities promoting responsible fatherhood as enacted by the Claims Resolution Act of 2010 (Pub. L. 111-291). The Responsible Fatherhood initiative is designed to help fathers establish or strengthen positive parental interaction by providing activities that develop and improve relationship, communication and parenting skills, and contribute to the financial well-being of their children by providing job training and other employment services. Grants to Support the Hispanic Health Services Research Grant Program (CMS)
Deadline: August 11, 2015
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is announcing the availability of funds under this grant program to assist researchers in conducting health services research for 2015. The purpose of the Hispanic grant program is to implement Hispanic health services research activities to meet the needs of diverse CMS beneficiary populations. The grant program is designed to: 1) encourage health services and health disparities researchers to pursue research issues which impact Hispanic Medicare, Medicaid, and Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) health services issues, 2) conduct outreach activities to apprise Hispanic researchers of funding availability to conduct research-related issues affecting Hispanic communities to expand the pool of applicants applying for such grants, 3) assist CMS in implementing its mission focusing on health care quality and improvement for its beneficiaries, 4) support extramural research in health care capacity development activities for the Hispanic communities, 5) promote research that will be aimed at developing a better understanding of health care services issues pertaining to Hispanics, and 6) foster a network for communication and collaboration regarding Hispanic health care issues. Short Courses in High Priority Domains of Behavioral and Social Research on Aging (NIH)

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH.The over-arching goal of this National Insitute on Aging (NIA) R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nations biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs in interdisciplinary areas of science relevant to behavioral and social research on aging. To accomplish this goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Courses for Skills Development aimed at enhancing the development of interdisciplinary scientists and of common languages and sharing of tools and analytic approaches across disciplines. Special Issue of The Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research (JSSWR) - Severe Mental Illness
EXTENDED Deadline: August 31, 2015
The Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research (JSSWR) announces an extension to the submission deadline for its special issue dedicated to studies related to adults with severe mental illness (e.g., major depression, including first episode and across the life span; schizophrenia; bipolar disorder). JSSWR welcomes studies using diverse methodologies, including quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, and systematic reviews. All high-quality manuscripts addressing issues related to severe mental illness with relevance to social work are of interest. Thus, papers may report on practice issues at the individual, family, community, organizational, and provider levels, as well as U.S. and comparative policy. Click here for more information.

Office of Minority Health Data Brief - Demographic Characteristics and Health Behaviors of among a Diverse Group of Adult Hispanic/Latino Males (Ages 18-64 Years) in the United States
Reducing health disparities in the nation is a goal for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Affordable Care Act is making important strides toward meeting that goal. This data brief focuses on a key provision of this landmark legislation that strengthens data collection standards that will help improve public health strategies and practices to address health disparities. New data collection standards issued in 2011 by HHS under Section 4302 of the Affordable Care Act, allow for additional levels of detail for race and Hispanic/Latino ethnicity, sex, primary language, and disability status collected in population health surveys conducted by the Department. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Report - Understanding the Uninsured Now
The nation's uninsurance rate has dropped significantly since the Affordable Care Act was enacted. But millions of Americans remain uninsured. In order to get a full picture of the lives of the uninsured and explore their feelings around enrolling in health insurance, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation commissioned a national survey with uninsured adults at the conclusion of the second open enrollment period for the health insurance marketplace.
