AHRQ Small Research Grant Program
Deadline: May 25, 2015
This FOA encourages Small Research Grant (R03) applications, and expresses AHRQ priority areas of interest for ongoing small research projects. The R03 grant mechanism supports different types of health services research projects including pilot and feasibility studies; secondary analysis of existing data; small, self-contained research projects; development of research methodology; and development of new research technology. Early Care and Education Research Scholars: Child Care Research Scholars (OPRE)
Deadline: June 8, 2015 The Administration for Children and Families, Office of Policy, Research and Evaluation plans to solicit applications for Child Care Research Scholars grants to support dissertation research on child care policy issues. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to focus research on questions that have direct implications for child care policy decision-making and program administration, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. International Research Collaboration on Drug Abuse and Addiction Research (NIH)
Deadline: May 7, 2018 This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages collaborative research applications on drug abuse and addiction that take advantage of special opportunities that exist outside the United States. Special opportunities include access to unusual talent, resources, populations, or environmental conditions in other countries that will speed scientific discovery. Projects should have relevance to the mission of NIDA and where feasible should address NIDAs international scientific priority areas. While the priorities will change from year to year, in FY15 priority areas include: linkages between HIV/AIDS and drug abuse; prevention, initiation, and treatment of nicotine and tobacco use (especially among vulnerable populations such as children, adolescents, pregnant women, and those with co-morbid disorders); the neuroscience of marijuana and cannabinoids; and the effect of changes in laws and policies on marijuana and its impact. Robertson Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Violence Prevention Research
The Robertson Fellowship is offered by the Violence Prevention Research Program (VPRP) at the University of California, Davis. It is available on a competitive basis to individuals who have completed a doctoral degree program (PhD, DrPH, MD) and are making a long-term commitment to violence research, either as their primary career focus or in conjunction with a career in a clinical health profession. Berger Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Child Abuse and Neglect

The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect, a section of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, announces the availability of a Berger Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Child Abuse and Neglect. This is a 2-year postdoctoral research fellowship designed to support the development of someone who wishes to become an independent investigator in the field of child maltreatment and child welfare. The National Association of Welfare Research and Statistics (NAWRS) Annual Workshop - Strengthening the Safety Net: Challenges and New Perspectives in Promoting Employment and Income Stability
EXTENDED Deadline: March 31, 2015
While cash assistance (TANF) was once a primary component of the safety net for low-income families, that landscape has changed, and a range of programs now play a critical role in supporting individuals when they are unable to work or work in jobs that pay too little. This conference will focus on how well these supports and services work, under what circumstances, and for whom. Of particular interest are those that have not been well-served by the U.S. safety net programs in the past, particularly single men. Click here for more information.

The Rural HIV Research and Training Conference welcomes submission of program proposals about HIV-related challenges and opportunities in rural communities with the following topics: research projects about the medical, social, and psychological realities of HIV/AIDS; evidence-based prevention and intervention programs and practices for physical, social and emotional well-being; family and community support and involvement through partnerships, faith-based initiatives, and social service programs; and advocacy projects that address HIV-related inequalities, stigma, and discrimination. National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) Webinar - Building an Equitable Health Care Delivery System: Federal and State Strategies

Federal and state policymakers are increasingly focused on addressing health disparities as part of their approach to improving health, improving health care quality, and reducing costs. This webinar will discuss aligning payment models, creating new partnerships, and building infrastructure and data systems to achieve health equity. Speakers from Ohio and Louisiana will describe their states' health equity initiatives and federal programs they are leveraging. New Dataset Available - Health Reform Monitoring Survey, Second Quarter 2014
In January 2013, the Urban Institute launched the Health Reform Monitoring Survey (HRMS), a quarterly survey of the nonelderly population, to explore the value of cutting-edge, Internet-based survey methods to monitor the Affordable Care Act (ACA) before data from federal government surveys are available. Topics covered by the sixth round of the survey (second quarter 2014) include self-reported health status, type of and satisfaction with current health insurance coverage, access to and use of health care, health care affordability, awareness of key provisions of the ACA, opinions about the ACA, sources of information about the health plans in the ACA health insurance exchanges (healthcare.gov), the importance of various criteria in choosing health insurance plans, whether the respondent enrolled in health insurance through healthcare.gov, and how easy or hard it was to use healthcare.gov. We are pleased to announce this year's theme, "30 Years of Advancing Health Equity; The Heckler Report: A Force for Ending Health Disparities in America," in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Report of the Secretary's Task Force on Black and Minority Health (also known as the Heckler Report). This theme reflects our collective efforts to accelerate momentum towards achieving a nation free of disparities in health and health care and the ways in which the Heckler Report has served as a driving force for the monumental changes in research, policies, programs and legislation to advance health equity.
