The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) are launching a collaborative Data Visualization Challenge in support of the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) Digital Strategy. The Gerber Foundation Pediatric Research Grant
Deadline: December 1, 2014
The Gerber Foundation's mission focuses on the nutrition, care and development of infants and young children. Therefore, grant-making interests are focused on health and/or nutrition-related research having a significant impact on issues facing infants and young children from the first year before birth to age 3. The Foundation is particularly interested in fresh approaches to solving newborn or pediatric problems or emerging issues with a predictable time frame to clinical application. Projects should be focused on issues faced by care providers that, when implemented, will improve the health, nutrition and/or developmental outcomes for infants and young children. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Policy-Relevant Insurance Studies (PRIS) Grant

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is committed to expanding coverage and, as such, works to contribute to the policy process by funding timely and policy-relevant empirical research on questions related to health insurance. This solicitation seeks to fund quantitative studies that address the macro or micro effects of policies related to health insurance using appropriate empirical methods, including but not limited to micro-simulation and/or computable general equilibrium models. The Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) is seeking applicants for SRCD Policy Fellowships for 2015-2016. There are two types of fellowships: Congressional and Executive Branch. Both types of fellowships provide researchers with exciting opportunities to come to Washington, D.C. and use their research skills in child development to inform public policy. Health Equity Initiative Webinar - Health Equity and Health Communication: Strategies to Reach the Underserved

This workshop will review examples of populations that experience the greatest health disparities across different health issues and settings both in the U.S. and globally; describe the essential components of communication planning to reach the underserved; appreciate the importance of increasing social support of health and community behavior; identify key communication strategies to achieve relevant behavioral and social results among vulnerable and underserved populations; discuss communication channels used by underserved populations in a variety of settings/ countries; differentiate between linguistic competence, cultural competency, and health literacy in public health practice; review relevant case studies and resources. ICPSR Webinar - Drug Use Among Young American Indians - Exploring the Data

The goal of the workshop is to expose investigators to the Drug Use Among Young American Indians: Epidemiology and Prediction study and the data available for 2001-2006 and 2009-2013. This data set contains detailed information on 16,590 adolescents in 7th to 12th grade in schools that had over 20% of its population self-identified as American Indian. The Institute will be an intensive experience in secondary data analysis that combines colloquia with hands-on computing time. Participants are selected on a competitive basis from a variety of disciplines including psychology, social work, and medicine. The primary goal of the Institute is to facilitate secondary analysis projects from which researchers can publish their findings. This Statistical Brief compares 2012 employer-sponsored health insurance offers, enrollments, and costs for those employees working at private-sector establishments where 50 percent or more of employees were low-wage (referred to as "lower-wage establishments") versus those working where less than 50 percent of employees were low-wage (referred to as "higher-wage establishments").
