Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health:Improving Maternal Health and Safety (HRSA)

Deadline: June 16, 2014

This announcement solicits applications for the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health: Improving Maternal Health and Safety.  The goal of this initiative is to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality and their associated adverse pregnancy outcomes (preterm birth, low birth weight and infant mortality) through efforts engaging provider organizations, state public health leaders, payers, hospital associations, regulatory bodies, consumer groups, and other key organizations. The outcome of this activity will be to improve maternal health on the national level through saving approximately 100,000 women from maternal mortality and/or preventable severe morbidities over the four-year project period. The Administration for Children and Families, Office of Policy, Research and Evaluation plans to solicit applications for Child Care Research Scholars grants to support dissertation research on child care policy issues. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to focus research on questions that have direct implications for child care policy decision-making and program administration, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. The Ohio State University College of Social Work announces the Call for Papers for the 26th National Symposium on Doctoral Research in Social Work to be held September 19, 2014, on the campus of the Ohio State University. The symposium showcases dissertation research of recent Ph.D. and D.S.W. recipients. Dissertations completed between January 2013 and May 2014 are eligible for consideration; selected presenters will receive a $250 honorarium. The Head Start Impact Study (HSIS) is a large, longitudinal, nationally representative study of the Head Start Population, aimed at determining how Head Start affects their school readiness. Symposium on the Organizational and Managerial Context of Private Child Welfare Agencies

The National Quality Improvement Center on the Privatization of Child Welfare Services developed the National Survey of Private Child and Family Service Agencies. In March,
Children and Youth Services Review published a symposium reporting on deeper analyses of these national survey data. While focused on the child welfare sector, the papers broadly concern the structure and functioning of private human service organizations and managerial efforts to enhance organizational performance.
