First-Ever Data Report on Family Well-Being Around the World: The World Family Map
(From ChildTrends)

For the first time, data are available on family well-being across high and low income countries around the world. The World Family Map report summarizes a large body of data on family strengths and challenges, as well as important educational outcomes for children and youth. The report explores the social, economic, familial, and cultural factors that tend to strengthen or undermine family life. The World Family Map (www.worldfamilymap.org) focuses a global spotlight on the roles that families play in promoting social, physical, economic, and psychological well-being for children, adults, and communities. Child Trends partnered with scholars at the University of Virginia and the University of Maryland, and with universities and think tanks around the world, to track central indicators of family well-being - i.e., indicators of family structure, family economic well-being, family processes, and family culture-around the globe. Updated and Expanded All-Payer Data on Patient Safety and Quality
(From the Commonwealth Fund)
Updated and expanded performance data on measures of patient safety and health care quality are now available on WhyNotTheBest.org. The new data, for measures developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, come from hospitals in 16 states (including the four newly added states of Massachusetts, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Virginia) and are based on reports from all payers-Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers. WhyNotTheBest.org is a unique source for exploring these data across states and regions.

Statewide Law Enforcement/Mental Health Efforts
Nationwide, law enforcement agencies in rapidly increasing numbers have embraced specialized policing responses (SPRs, pronounced "spurs") to people with mental illnesses. These efforts, which prioritize treatment over incarceration when appropriate, are planned and implemented in partnership with community service providers and citizens. The two most prevalent SPR approaches are Crisis Intervention Teams (CITs) and police-mental health co-responder teams. This paper describes how statewide coordination efforts are structured in three states-Connecticut, Ohio, and Utah-and synthesizes their successes and challenges in coordinating this work. The purpose of the document is to provide readers with a description of how statewide efforts can be organized and play a role in supporting SPRs within their borders. Click here to read more.
