Fauquier Community Theatre presents One-Act Night on Wednesday December 16th with curtain at 7 PM.  The night will feature 3 original plays written by young playwrights in Fauquier and performed by local actors.

First "One Act": The Allegro Community School of the Arts Teen Drama class will present the original one-act It's a Very Zombie Christmas Gladys Brown. After a zombie apocalypse occurs, 5 girls are trapped in a Costco just trying to survive. Christmas is just around the corner, but how will the girls celebrate? The girls have to learn how to coexist with one another, even though they are all very different. But will they be able to coexist or will it become an all-out brawl for survival?

Second "One Act": The Lord Fairfax Community College Acting I class will present the original one-act Christmas at Kyle's.  The employees of Kyle's department store are feeling the pressures of Black Friday sales, relationships, and having to climb the cooperate ladder.  As they fold sweaters and stock the shelves tensions rise, relationships heat up, and prices keep drop as they search for the true meaning of the holidays.

Third "One Act": Fauquier Community Theatre will present the award winning one-act Seven Times Lucky by Hannah Butler. Stephen is a man, down on his luck. He just lost his job, he has multiple personality disorder and he is totally broke. But when a beautiful and quirky woman sits and talks with him, chaos ensues as one by one, his personalities kick in. Will Stephen be able to converse with Taylor or will his secret become known?

Tickets are $10 for all 3 shows and proceeds will go towards sponsoring the FCT cast and crew of Seven Times Lucky as they head to the South Eastern Theatre Conference, representing Fauquier Community Theatre and the state of Virginia in the regional community theatre one-act competition.

                         Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol
 Directed by Maggie Bausch
 Produced by Laurie Bersack

Marley was dead to begin with..."
FCT is pleased to present Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol by Tom Mula. A modern and magical spin on the old classic, this story starts in the afterlife - but it also starts in a theatre. Director Maggie Bausch says, "This play is very aware that it's a play, which is one of the things that has been so fun about it. Most of it takes place in the audience's imagination, and we've really taken that to heart."

The story is simultaneously acted and told to the audience, almost like a storybook brought to life. An imaginative, strange, and funny ghost story! After all, Jacob Marley is a ghost. Told from the point of view of Marley (Scrooge's chain rattling and deceased business partner). So if you've ever wondered why Jacob Marley would want to save the soul of his friend Ebenezer Scrooge, this fantastical version shows us why.

Marley is played by Tim Bambara who had this to say,
"Marley is an interesting character to play and the play gives the Dickensian classic an interesting twist. Instead of the protagonist 'getting a second chance' the protagonist of Marley's Christmas Carol has to 'give' Scrooge a second chance.  The true Christmas spirit relies on giving not getting and Marley goes through a journey, learning to give others love and generosity, without expecting much in return, other than a chance to leave hell. I've thoroughly enjoyed discovering all of the character's levels and his story is going to be great fun to portray this holiday season."

Marley is accompanied by a pesky little spirit named Bogle who is played by Krista Day Poole. The comic relief, she is also Marley's guide to his journey through the afterlife...and perhaps a redemption of his own. Rounding out the cast is Carolyn A. Cameron as Scrooge, Cliff Rieger as the Record Keeper, Tess Jeans as Cratchit, and Jessica Tressler as The Shadow.

"Everyone in the cast is so multi-talented, which is a great asset, because they are all playing at least two parts," says Bausch. "We are really breaking the illusion and playing with the fact that the cast is definitely actors in a theatre telling a funny and moving ghost story to the audience. It's a wild script. I love it."

So bring your imagination, your curiosity, and your love of theatre to Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol, opening December 4th with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm through December 20. Tickets are available online www.FCTstage.org or by phone 540.349.8760 - leave a message.

We are excited to celebrate with you the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016! We hope that you have enjoyed having FCT as a part of your life experience this year.

FCT has continued to bring the Arts alive in our community for the past 38 years! We have become a cultural staple in this and surrounding communities. We offered 6 main stage programs, and 2 youth programs in 2015. We are excited to announce that we will be holding a much anticipated Youth Theatre Camp this year as we have in years past.

Some of the most exciting news of 2015 was the completion of interior paint, new flooring in the theatre building including carpet and hard surfaces and new theatre cushions and upholstery. We are not done! We have plans for more upgrades to the interior of the building as funds are available in 2016.

As you know, we are a non-profit organization and rely on generous charitable gifts to help us continue bringing the arts to life in our community!  All year-end contributions are tax deductible and should be made out to FCT and mailed to FCT, PO Box 3046, Warrenton, VA. If you would like to give using a credit card, please leave a message at 540-349-8760. You will receive a receipt with our tax ID number to use for your deductions.
