FCT Presents LITTLE WOMEN!
~ Only 3 performances remaining ~
Based on Louisa May Alcott's enduring classic, Little Women follows the beloved stories of the March sisters as they come of age in Civil War America. This timeless captivating story is brought to life in this glorious musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope, and everlasting love.
Settle into the front parlor of the March sisters, and you are guaranteed a heartwarming evening in the company of four "Little Women."
From its precocious characters to its three tragedies, Louisa May Alcott's cherished novel may well be the perfect fare for a multigenerational family treat. If the 19th-century coming-of-age tale veers into unabashedly sentimental territory, perhaps that's what we yearn for, a chance to relive the giddy and tearful nature of being young and innocent of the ravages of time.
Alcott based the story on her own life story and there's no denying the earnestness and simplicity of her narrative. From the unshakable nature of the sisterly bond to the horrors of unexpected loss, "Little Women" mingles truth with nostalgia.
The musical which is suitable for all ages will be presented just 3 more times on May 16, 17, and 18. Curtain time is 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. An adult ticket is $18; senior citizen (60 and above) and student tickets are $16. Tickets can be purchased online at FCTstage.org.

FCT has lost another of its founders and a driving force for many years. Lois Ross left us Wednesday May 7th after several years of declining health and energy. She gave so much to our theatrical company that we have enjoyed for the past thirty-six years, not the least of which are daughters Gail and Holly and son Brian who have all been on-stage from the beginning, and husband, Bud - whose engineering and mechanical talents she steered toward FCT. Lois has organized successful galas with her taste for formality, arranging for dinners in private homes. And her home in Greenwich has hosted many FCT picnics, the first one even before the first show hit the stage! Many of the impressive group of Founding Members listed in our programs are friends that Lois brought in for their support. She claimed to have played every role except stage manager, technician and box office manager, and to have attended every FCT show. All along, she has been a wonderful mentor to actors, young and old. Among her performing roles that come to mind were Vera Chapman in Incident at San Bajo for which she won Best Supporting Actress at the Northern Virginia Theater Alliance's One-act play festival in 1992, Lady Agatha Mortimer in The Hound of the Baskervilles in 1997 and, most recently a stylish Mrs. Higgins in 2003's My Fair Lady. In 1993, having proposed the show to other FCT directors every year of the past ten, she gave up and directed Pump Boys and Dinettes herself - a country/gospel/blues styled musical set in a roadside filling station, with daughters Gail and Holly as sassy, flirtin' waitresses, slinging hash and musical opinions in the diner. Described as a real challenge, Lois "had to put up with tantrums, tearfulness and stubbornness for what seemed an eternity!" But Pump Boys... was a delightful, fun-filled success and deserves to be encored. Lois Ross was an elegant lady of steel who put so much of herself in our theatre. In her honor, the lights were dimmed at last weekend's performances of Little Women. On dates to be determined, a private family service will be held at "the Lawn" followed by a celebration of her life to which all of her friends (theater and otherwise) will be invited. It is Lois' wish that contributions be made in her memory to FCT and be sent to FCT, PO Box 3046, Warrenton, VA 20188.

Beauty and the Beast
"Be our guest" and step into the enchanted world of Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. Featuring songs from the Academy Award-winning animated feature.
Your audiences will be transported to the heart of a quaint French town, where Belle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman, yearns to escape her more than her provincial life and a brute of a suitor.....Gaston. When her father Maurice becomes lost in the woods on the way to present his latest invention at a local fair, he seeks shelter in an old castle but is soon taken captive by the master of the house, a horrible Beast. Belle surrenders her freedom to save his life. As Belle tames the Beast, teaching him the meaning of love, she gets more adventure than she ever dreamed of with dancing flatware, menacing wolves, and singing furniture in this beloved fairy tail where very different people find strength in one another and learn to love.
With a "tale as old as time" you will be delighted when you attend this musical on June 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22. Friday and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.

Leaders Needed
Fauquier Community Theatre is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. Three positions on this Board come up for renewal each spring at the Annual Meeting. If you have the time and the willingness to work to lead FCT into the future, please consider service on the Board. While experience onstage or backstage is obviously a plus, the main role of a non-profit Board is to set policy, do strategic planning, and raise the funds needed to keep the organization financially healthy and position it for future growth. People with business experience in the areas of planning and fundraising would be very helpful. Experience in grant-writing and marketing would also be useful. Someone with basic financial management skills would be a welcome help to the Treasurer. Managing a non-profit organization successfully is a team effort. Please contact the Chairman, Don Richardson, at Chairman@FCTstage.org to find out more and let us know of your interest.

FCT needs volunteers for the following areas:
1. Person who is experienced and interested in writing grants
2. Fundraising Development Committee Members
3. Promote FCT at the Warrenton Spring Festival May 17th on Main St. Warrenton at FCT's booth. Time slots are 9-11, 11-1, 1-3.
4. Someone who would consider taking posters to the local businesses (60) and hanging them up for each of our shows. This just takes about 3-4 hours and is done about every other month.
Please contact us at Christie@FCTstage.org if you are interested in helping in any of the above areas. Thanks ahead of time!
