Outreach
Our exhibit June 23-25 at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners conference in San Antonio, TX attracted many health professionals who were interested in learning about Inflammation Therapy.

Therapy Tip
Controlling the unavoidable Herxheimer reactions to maintain tolerable symptoms and acceptable lab work is the best way to ensure tissues are not damaged by inflammation during the recovery process. Reducing the dose (not the frequency) of Benicar is usually the best strategy.

Greetings!
This month marks the end of seven years that Chronic Illness Recovery has been providing services. They say time seems to stand still when you love what you are doing, which would explain why it doesn't seem that long ago. We are so fortunate to be doing what we love and are passionate about: helping people suffering from chronic inflammatory diseases, learning more about these diseases and sharing what we've learned with others who can do more good. We feel connected to all of you who have had an inflammatory disease alter your life. Thank you for sharing the journey with us. May we continue to make an impact.
Warm Regards,

About Inflammation Therapy
|
Kidney Function During Inflammation Therapy
Treatment protocols such as Inflammation Therapy resolve chronic inflammatory symptoms by stimulating the immune system to eliminate persistent pathogens. The resulting cellular death provokes Jarisch-Herxheimer reactions (i.e., immunopathology) which often cause hormonal, endocrine, and blood count changes.
The kidneys may be affected by subclinical chronic inflammation, and must function well enough to eliminate additional toxins released as a result of the bacterial die-off. Mildly abnormal kidney function during treatment is common and not a cause for concern. However, because treatment often requires many years of immune system stimulation to resolve inflammation, it's vital that medical practitioners regularly monitor kidney function (BUN, creatinine, eGFR, proteinuria, electrolytes, B/P, 24 hour urine, cystatin C, etc.) to ensure these markers of health don't stray too far from normal and aren't continuing to trend in the wrong direction.
Kidney function lab results that are seriously out of range should not be ignored nor should they be considered a normal part of the healing process. Seriously out of range kidney function tests do indicate renal stress that could result in permanent organ damage if waste products are allowed to accumulate.
The medical professionals at CIR have learned that reducing immunostimulation (i.e., up-regulation of vitamin D receptor transcription of antimicrobial peptides) by decreasing the dose of Benicar (olmesartan) is the most effective strategy to improve worrisome kidney function so patients can safely continue Inflammation Therapy.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) may be caused by an immune reaction, rather than direct chemical injury from stomach acids, according to results from a small, single-center study published online May 17 in JAMA.
Association of Acute Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease With Esophageal Histologic Changes
The supposed villain in "Alzheimer's Disease is ßamyloid, a protein fragment that can misfold and form sticky plaques around neurons in the brain. Now, a new study in mice and worms supports a controversial hypothesis that the plaques may not be all bad. ßamyloid's tendency to choke neurons could be linked to an ancient evolutionary mission to protect the brain from pathogens, the authors say."
"The link between sarcoidosis and overproduction of the suspected protein trigger, called serum amyloid A, was revealed in 2010. The increase in production of serum amyloid A explains for the first time how inflammation can persist in the lungs without being triggered by an active infection."

About the CIR patient counseling program
|
To enroll in the Chronic Illness Recovery counseling program, a patient sends us an email and asks for an Enrollment Form. We then send their physician a letter of explanation about the CIR counseling program and the two professional forms to sign - Authorization to Counsel and Standing Orders for Inflammation Therapy Medications. When we've received all the necessary documents, any applicable fee and reviewed the enrollment form, the patient is notified of acceptance and registered at the Website/Forum where they post progress reports and ask questions.

Recovery Reports
|
We are contacted daily by people with chronic illnesses who are looking for an effective treatment. Many ask us to provide evidence of efficacy in the form of statistics or stories. If you have recovered your health or had significant symptom improvement with Inflammation Therapy, please help us 'pay it forward' by telling your story. We will post it in the public section of our website to encourage others. Any report, short or long, with or without objective data (e.g., lab results, imaging reports) would be helpful. Please email your story here. Thank you! Please see Recovery Reports here.
