Greetings!
Some of you may not realize all the programs that Chronic Illness Recovery provides, so here's a brief summary of what we do.
We maintain our website and keep it current with informative articles on topics related to chronic inflammatory diseases and vitamin D.
We offer a counseling program for patients on Inflammation Therapy, with the authorization of their medical provider. These patients report to CIR Nurses in a secure online forum and their physician receives regular reports of their patient's status.
We respond daily to email and phone inquiries from patients and medical practitioners about a variety of issues related to vitamin D deficiency, chronic illnesses and Inflammation Therapy.
We maintain an active presence on social media such as Twitter, Facebook and write articles for health blogs regarding issues pertaining to vitamin D.
We continue to monitor the latest published research about vitamin D, the inflammatory process and bacterial causes of chronic disease to make them available to those who follow our work. Our paper, Inflammation and Vitamin D: the Infection Connection, which was published in the October 2014 issue of Inflammation Research, is cited by other publications.
We attend medical conferences throughout the year, presenting information about vitamin D deficiency, the bacterial cause of chronic inflammatory diseases and Inflammation Therapy to medical practitioners so this treatment will be more widely available. Many of our patient referrals come from clinicians we meet at these events.
Thank you for your continued support of these efforts. If you would like to find out more about any of these programs, please contact us via phone 888.846.2474 or email.

Vitamin D Deficiency - What Does It Mean?
In 2010, the Institute of Medicine issued a report saying that vitamin D is vital for bone health, but other than that there isn't evidence that low levels of vitamin D cause disease. [1]
A 2014 review published in the British Medical Journal concluded that highly convincing evidence of a clear role of vitamin D supplementation does not exist for any outcome. [2]
In 2014, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force concluded there's not enough evidence to recommend screening for vitamin D deficiency in asymptomatic adults. [3]
The current standard for assessment of vitamin D status, measurement of 25(OH)D only, needs further investigation because levels deemed deficient are found in both healthy and sick individuals. Since 25(OH)D is an inert precursor of the bio-active form of vitamin D, measuring the active form [1,25(OH)2D] may provide valuable information for both the researcher and clinician.
It is presumed that 25(OH)D accurately reflects the level of 1,25(OH)2D. That may be the case in the healthy but measurement of 1,25(OH)2D in chronically ill patients with normal renal function may reveal a significant elevation. Extra-renal cells can be stimulated by intracellular bacteria to over-produce this steroid hormone in an effort to activate the immune system. The result is a depletion of its precursor - 25(OH)D. Thus, vitamin D "deficiency" may be a marker of an occult, infectious disease process. [4]

Recovery Reports
|
We are contacted daily by people with chronic illnesses who are looking for an effective treatment. Many ask us to provide evidence of efficacy in the form of statistics or stories. If you have recovered your health or had significant symptom improvement with Inflammation Therapy, please help us 'pay it forward' by telling your story. We will post it in the public section of our website to encourage others. Any report, short or long, with or without objective data (e.g., lab results, imaging reports) would be helpful. Please email your story to us. Thank you!
