BioDtech and Amgen Develop New Method for Monitoring Inflammatory Disease
|
Scientists at BioDtech and Amgen recently published a method for using endotoxin neutralization as a biomonitor for inflammatory bowel disease. The results show that endotoxin neutralization mirrors known clinical differences between males and females and between control and disease patients. Additionally, this method showed great promise in measuring disease severity and/or the effect of medication. This novel new method can easily be adapted to any disease involving inflammation due to Gram-negative bacterial exposure. Endotoxin Neutralization as a Biomonitor for Inflammatory Bowel DiseasePotential Uses of Endotoxin Neutralization:
- Indication of chronic, low-level endotoxin exposure
- Monitor therapeutic compounds
- Relationship between bacterial exposure and inflammation-associated diseases
- Status of the immune system
Advantages of Endotoxin Neutralization: - Functional assay
- Simple experimental procedure
- Uses recombinant enzyme instead of LAL - more specific, cheaper, less variability

Endotoxin Detection and Removal Products
|

BioDtech, Inc. offers many products to assist in both removal and detection of endotoxin.
EndoBind-R™ is an affinity chromatography media designed to remove endotoxin from aqueous solutions. The ligand is highly specific for endotoxin resulting in high detoxification and low product loss.
EndoPrep™ is a sample preparation kit used in conjunction with LAL or rFC assays. It removes the interfering effects of proteins that can mask endotoxin or inhibit enzymatic assays thus providing more accurate endotoxin quantitation.
ESP™ is a sample treatment system to remove the inhibitory or enhancing effects of blood plasma components in endotoxin detection assays. The test is specially formulated to test citrated plasma samples.
