CYH Lauren 2013 We are all on our own personal health journey.  An ongoing and challenging part of my journey has been re-balancing my thyroid levels.  It's been a long road but I'm determined to heal it holistically.  I'll be going back for more blood work over the summer and am certain that my thyroid will be the healthiest it's been in years.  I've put together a file for you to download below including helpful information on hypo/hyperthyroidism and how I'm healing mine.  Do you have issues with your thyroid or know someone who does?  Even if you aren't sure, this may be something that you want to check out.  Please contact me if you have any questions and I can do my best to help you in any way that I can, or at least direct you to a practitioner who can.  Best wishes along your wellness journey wherever you are!

Spinach & Artichoke Dip
I'm getting ready to celebrate Lammer's birthday this weekend so I've been looking for some fresh recipes to throw together for his special day.  For entertaining, I'm preparing this yummy spinach and artichoke dip by The Spinach Spot with fresh cut carrots, celery, radishes and gluten free crackers. 

Ingredients:  
1 cup spinach, thinly sliced
2 cups frozen artichoke hearts, thawed
2 cloves garlic
tsp sea salt
2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup cashews, soaked and rinsed
juice from 1/2 lemon
cup macadamia nuts
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp hemp seeds
cup + 1 tbsp water

Directions:  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
After your artichokes have thawed, chop into bite sized pieces.
Combine all ingredients except spinach and artichokes into a blender.
Blend on high until smooth.  Add extra water a tablespoon at a time if necessary.
Pour mixture into a large bowl and add spinach and artichokes.
Mix spinach and artichokes into the sauce until everything is thoroughly coated.
Pour mixture into a baking dish and smooth top.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until hot though center.
Serve with veggies or crackers and enjoy!
Berkey Water Filter
Ever think of drinking the suntan lotion that's meant to be applied to your skin?  Of course not, why would you do that?  Well, why are we forced to drink a known toxin in almost all of our water when we've been told it's "healthy for our teeth?"  I don't know about you, but fluoridated water makes my blood boil.  Consuming fluoridated water internally for our teeth makes about as much sense as drinking sunscreen to prevent sunburn.  Unfortunately, fluoride is a dangerous toxin that is doing harmful damage to our insides.  Watch this film, The Fluoride Deception, when you have a chance on YouTube. 

It's a challenge to find a filter that will cleanse the water we drink.  Have no fear though!  I swear by my Berkey, and love it for filtering out the fluoride, chlorine and other nasty and unnecessary impurities in my water.  I highly recommend one for your home.  For more information on getting rid of fluoride in your water, check out my blog post
