The Sausalito-Viña del Mar Sister Cities Council has organized this benefit gala to raise needed funds to prepare for the arrival of seven women entrepreneurs coming from Viña del Mar in April. Read further down to meet the women.
This event is hosted by Roxanne Sheridan, Gil Purcell Sr., and Gil Purcell Jr., at their breathtaking fully restored 1888 private, historic mansion--The Pines. We thank them for their generous support!
A taste of Viña del Mar in Sausalito

The evening begins with a Pisco Sour cocktail, sumptuous hors d'oeuvres and wine tasting, followed by live entertainment by pianist Glenn Woodruff accompanying singer Veronica Perry, and a traditional Chilean Cueca presentation by Araucaria Folkloric Dance Ensemble.
We have a fabulous selection of raffle prizes donated by Gene Hiller, Sausalito Jewelers, Modern Sailing, Lunch at the Ritz, Taylor Kraft... just to name a few.
We have spectacular live auction items!
Last but not least, we'll dance the night away to Radio Sausalito DJ Jonathan Westerling. |

The Association of Women Entrepreneurs, AGEP-V, came about after six women entrepreneurs in Viña del Mar decided to grow and prosper under their Association's mission statement. The group's main objective is to give each other support while generating business opportunities, such as reaching out to new markets to commercialize their products and to offer their services. Carolina Arroyo
| Carolina is President of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs AGEP-V. She has a law degree from the University of Valparaíso. She has taught Labor Law, Tax Law and Commercial Law. She owns an arts and crafts store specializing in "country" decorative items. She has won multiple awards including "Best Professor" at the Law School for five consecutive years. She has also participated in many Arts and Crafts Fairs as well as in Art and Painting exhibits.

Alejandra Berríos
| Alejandra studied graphic design at the University of Valparaíso and has a Masters in Communication and Education Technology. She has her own company since 1999, "Diseño Integrado." She advises small and medium size businesses on image design and corporate communications. She participated in an education project on e-Learning at the Federico Santa María University, where she designed virtual imagery and where she became interested in online learning. She now develops and designs learning resources for online courses.

Genoveva Badilla
| Genoveva has a degree in hotel management, and is also a fisheries engineer. Along with a long list of management courses she worked at the Ministry of Economics for the Fisheries Department. She originally owned a store that retailed electronic products and computers. Her latest venture is a tourism company named "Enjoy & Travel". www.insiscomputacion.cl

Rudith Escobar
| Rudith owns a beauty Spa in Reñaca where she offers massages, pedicures, manicures, thermal mud therapeutics, make up application and where she retails thermal mud products plus other beauty products. Years back, she lived in Spain where she started a Chilean food eatery. She went on to enroll in beauty and computer courses. She is now the Association's treasurer. Email: salon.spa@hotmail.com

Patricia Alcaíno
| Patricia speaks German and a bit of English. She lived in Germany for 15 years returning to Chile in 1991. She then incorporated into the family business called "Tejidos Ana Pereira," a knitwear company and retail store. Later she partnered with another knitwear company called "Tejidos Ricetto." She applied for seed capital to start her own business in 1997 and opened a B&B called "Hostal Destino Bellavista." She is a founding member of AGEP-V.

Orieta Biso | Orieta started her business of commercial embroidery in 1997 when she bought her first embroidery machine. She produced T- shirts, sweatshirts, and other clothing items. She has since acquired seed capital on two occasions to invest in equipment. She has also taken business courses in administration, marketing, and personal growth. Besides that, she is the proprietor of a Bed & Breakfast.

Edith Arce
| Edith and her husband own a bakery which has been in operation for 30 years. For the past five years she has owned a ̈Hostal ̈ (which is more along the lines of a B&B vs what we call hostels) called "Plenovalpo," which is slang for "in the heart of Valparaíso." She has won numerous awards as an entrepreneur and is dedicated to promoting women in business. She has been awarded seed capital a number of times from government grants to help launch her company.
