Welcome Chile Lindo Community!

I am so pleased to announce the kick-off of a new concert series titled Raíces, starring the brilliant Marina Lavalle.

A rare find of Afro-Peruvian music, Marina Lavalle owns it! She is Peruvian, her roots are African, and her career was launched as the lead vocalist of the world-renowned ensemble, Perú Negro.

Featuring master percussionist Lalo Izquierdo, founder of Perú Negro, and bassist David Pinto, director and arranger for Susana Baca--this performance is one of those unique Mission District cultural highlights. Also featured will be Braulio Barrera and Pedro Rosales. Special guest: De Rompe Y Raja, cajón and dance troupe.

Date: Saturday, April 11
Time: 8:00 p.m.

Hola:

"The Girl from Empanada" (that's me) has been invited by Carlos Disdier, of La Bohemia Productions, to sell Chile Lindo Empanadas at Marina Lavalle's concert. So, come enjoy traditional Peruvian rythms and authentic Chilean empanadas.

"La Chica de Empanada" (esa soy yo) ha sido invitada por Carlos Disdier, productor de La Bohemia, a vender empanadas del Chile Lindo en el concierto de Marina Lavalle. Por lo tanto, a disfrutar de los  ritmos tradicionales peruanos y de las auténticas empanadas chilenas.

Saludos y cariños,

Paula Tejeda

Baked Chilean Empanadas. A Chilean Staple! Freshly kneaded dough is rolled and folded into a traditional savory, crusty, pastry shell. The stuffing, called "pino," consists of minced meat and sautéed onions seasoned with paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. The "pino" is sprinkled with raisins, and a black olive and slice of hard-boiled egg are added. Once baked golden brown, the mix of flavors makes for a delicious meal. Fresh out of the oven empanadas are at their peak!
