Your Generosity
The holidays are an important time to give to others. After learning about the success of Round Up programs at other Co-ops, we felt it would be a great opportunity for us to support the work of important non-profits. We officially launched our first Round Up program on December 1st. How does it work? For the whole month of December, Member-Owners and shoppers can choose to round their transaction up to the nearest dollar. Their change is donated to The Community Kitchen in Keene, this month's Round Up recipient. The Community Kitchen provides nourishing food for food-insecure community members, mostly families with children and the elderly, through their hot meals and food pantry program. Some of you have also chosen to give additional dollars on top of your change, which has been a huge help in raising funds to help feed our neighbors in need. Why the Community Kitchen? After learning about a large budget shortfall for the Community Kitchen in Keene, we felt they would be a perfect recipient for December's pilot Round Up program. Our goal with this program is to offer you the opportunity to support organizations with missions in direct alignment with our own. By working together we can achieve our Co-op's Ends Statements. We raised $1,800 during our first week. Wow! Thank you for participating so generously in this new program and helping to support The Community Kitchen's great work. As always, with any pilot, we will make changes to the program to make it as successful as it can be. We'd appreciate any feedback and suggestions on this new program. Cooperatively, Michael Faber General Manager, Monadnock Food Co-op

Board Updates
Board Development and Training
By Anton Elbers, Co-op Board of Directors
At the October Member-Owner meeting of the Co-op, two new directors and one current director were voted onto the Board to serve you, the Member-Owners, for the next three years. The Board of Directors is charged with oversight and setting the direction of the Co-op for the future, a big job! So how do we help our new directors prepare for this responsibility?

Skin Deep - Exploring Natural Body Care
By Mary Veerkamp, Co-op Outreach and Education Coordinator
I still have a great love for products that smell and feel good on my skin, but my discernment for those products has been honed as I've educated myself about not only what I put IN my body, but also what I put ON it. As I made positive changes to my diet, choosing healthier whole foods and (mostly) eliminating processed food from my diet, I started wondering about the perfumes and skin care that I loved so much. At first, I shifted away from the fancy department store skin care and fragrances and began looking into more natural alternatives. Upon eliminating perfume from my routine, I noticed that I no longer had frequent headaches -- headaches that I didn't really notice I was having until I WASN'T having them anymore!
