Board Update
Save the Date: Co-op Annual Meeting and Co-operator Award

By Erik Walker, Monadnock Food Co-op Board Member

Mark your calendars for the Monadnock Food Co-op's Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Heberton Hall in Keene.  This year's theme is: Own, Use, Serve, Belong, Celebrate! It's a mantra that aptly captures the virtuous cycle we generate as we "get on the bus," engage in all the Co-op has to offer, and generate long-term benefits for ourselves and our community.

The great news is that our 2,000+ Member-Owners have been doing just that - and it's time to celebrate. This year's event will be catered by the fabulous Co-op Deli and will feature local bluegrass favorites Hot Mustard.  Stay tuned for more details over the next few months.

We are especially pleased to announce the inaugural Co-operator of the Year Award, to be presented at the annual meeting.  To be eligible for this award you must be a Member-Owner, staff member or community partner (ex. farmer, organization, business) who exemplifies co-operative values.  Those values are self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, solidarity, honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.

We want your Co-operator of the Year Award Nominations:

Fill out this nomination form and tell us why you believe your nominee should win the award.  Forms will also be available at the Co-op's Customer Service Desk.  A working group of two board members, a staff person and two Member-Owners will determine the winner.

The Annual Meeting includes a report on the health of our co-op and new board member elections.  If you would like to run for one of the three vacant board member spaces, the absolute deadline is September 15th. Interested? Contact the board president, Joe Marks, at  joe@bauldelairesoaps.com.

We look forward to celebrating a very successful Co-op year with you!

With just a few weeks left before the children head back to school, I find myself thinking about the comfort of routine provided by a more predictable schedule. I love rhythm and routine.
