Updates
October is National Co-op Month and here's how we plan to celebrate:

First, we want to share how Food Co-ops impact our community locally, here in Keene, as well as nationally.  Watch for this poster coming soon to the store.

Second, October 31st is Howard Bowers Day at our Co-op.  We'll donate 1% of our sales that day to the Howard Bowers Fund which strengthens the food co-op community by giving grants for the training and education of food co-op staff, managers, and board members. We have a lot of Co-ops to thank for helping us open our doors and we want to help pay it forward by participating in this important fundraiser during National Co-op Month.

Lastly, we successfully launched our Healthy Food For All Program.  This program provides a 10% discount to all community members who receive SNAP benefits.  This is an incredibly important way for our Co-op to help make healthy food available to everyone.  We need your help spreading the word about this program.  If you know an organization or person who would benefit, please share our website link with them: http://monadnockfood.coop/healthy-food.

Thank you to the over 80 people who joined us for our September 24th A Place at the Table Event.  We generated many more ideas for bringing healthy food to more people. We hope you'll attend the second showing of A Place at the Table next month.

Yours Cooperatively,
Michael Faber

Come celebrate the opening of our Co-op and honor all the hard work offered by you, our friends and neighbors, to make our Co-op happen. Hear updates on how our new store is doing, discuss ways we can work together to strengthen our co-op and meet our 2013 Board Nominees.

Enjoy conversations with some of our local farmers and producers who sell their goods at the Co-op, including Chris Caserta from Walpole Valley Farms.  Chris will share the impact the Co-op has had on his family business and the potential our Co-op has to strengthen our local economy.

Enter our Local Pie Baking Contest:
The winner receives a gift basket filled with locally grown and made products from the Co-op. Pies judged on two criteria: number of ingredients produced locally (within 100 mile radius of the Monadnock Food Co-op) and taste.

Happy Co-op Month!
Live Co-operatively

This October, the Monadnock Food Co-op and communities across the country are celebrating Co-op Month - a time to recognize the benefits and values that co-operatives bring to their members and communities. The theme this year, "Live Co-operatively," invites people to explore the many ways in which co-ops improve lives and impact both the national and local economy.

"In this economy, people are hungry for alternatives," said Erbin Crowell, Executive Director of the Neighboring Food Co-op Association and board member of the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA). "Co-ops and credit unions offer a successful business model that is also rooted in our communities. When we choose to 'live co-operatively,' we are building a more participatory, sustainable and resilient economy."
