SW Regional Advisory Board Members at Tempe Mission Palms Hotel, Tempe, Ariz.
RAB Members Eager to Spread Regional Business Optimism New highs in standard auto production, improving agency revenue and good old-fashioned market condition optimism dominated talks between the Southwest Regional Advisory Board (RAB) and regional leaders at the fall RAB meeting in Tempe, Ariz. on Aug. 26 and 27. Click here for a summary of regional and national key take-away items and priorities.
"We are rolling!" declared RAB member David Burrows, of Enid, Okla. "We're not putting out as many fires as we used to. We have trust in the company and in the region."
Blake Doten of Yuma, Ariz., also a National Advisory Board (NAB) member, said ease of business and rate improvements by Allstate have allowed her to focus her agency where it belongs - "on the customer."
Underscoring the sense of optimism and momentum that defined the meeting, the region set a new five year standard auto daily production record on Aug. 26, with more than 650 new auto polices written - just one sign that "this year is going to be banner year for us," said Denis Bailey, Southwest Senior Field Vice President.
"We want every agency to experience the kind of month over month positive movement we're seeing," Bailey said. "We are expecting positive auto growth this year for the first time in five years. That helps you from a revenue sense; and provides a platform for you to be more productive."
The RAB also asked for more Licensed Sales Professionals (LSPs) hiring and training resources to take advantage of new growth opportunities. "We want a consistent training and education platform for LSPs," said Frank Schubert, a Scottsdale, Ariz. agency owner. "This is an issue duplicated all across the country," he said.
Spreading the growth and optimism message among all agents was also a priority, many RAB members said. "We need to get the sidelined agents back in the game," said Misty Chadwick, a Las Vegas, Nev. agency owner, who gave high marks to Product State Manager Jessica Friedman and Field Product Manager J.C. Arnett for their improvements to the region's competitive position. "Kudos to Product for thinking like sales people," Chadwick said.
Human Resources and Education regional leaders Tracy Rodriguez and Teresa Lustig previewed new LSP hiring and training resources to launch this Fall, including a new website to attract more qualified agency staff and build a larger pre-screened LSP database. They also introduced local market workshops to give agencies a roadmap for hiring, training and managing staff.
The 33-member SW RAB, which is a subset of the region's State Advisory Boards, meets twice annually prior to the NAB meeting to set priorities for the company, both regionally and nationally, including outlining top items that the region's NAB members to share with company officials. The NAB meeting is set for Sept. 23-25 at Allstate headquarters in Northbrook, Ill.
