Outreach Corner

The next opportunity to help at St. Luke's Community Dining is coming up on October 25.   So far I only have one volunteer. Please let me know if you can help. We will still be making sandwiches, at Grace this month which I believe will be our last time making the sandwiches as in November we will most likely be cooking our first meal at ST Luke's on Nov 29th. Stay tuned...

Also, ST. Luke's will be looking for volunteers for Thanksgiving Day! If you are willing to help let me know and I will pass it on. Thank you, Brenda Pearson bpearson267@gmail.com

Food is needed for the food pantries that Grace Episcopal Church supports. Food items may be placed in the baskets just outside the main entrance to the sanctuary (an usher can help you locate them.)  The item for October 19 is canned soup.  The item for October 26 is rice.

Local Historian Dee Morris presents "Boston in the Golden Age of Spiritualism"

Wednesday, October 29th

6:45PM

Local historian Dee Morris, will be talking about her new book, "Boston in the Golden Age of Spiritualism". Spiritualism flourished in Boston from the first rumblings of the Civil War until the early twentieth century. Numerous clairvoyants claimed to bring messages from beyond the grave at séances and public meetings. Motives for belief were varied. Wealthy John Wetherbee sought business advice through supernatural means. Psychic Fannie Conant attributed her restored health to spirit intervention. Grieving theater manager Isaac B. Rich wanted to contact his deceased wife. While many earnestly believed in the movement, there were those who took advantage of naïve Bostonians. Determined to expose charlatans, world-renowned magician Harry Houdini declared the famous medium and Bostonian Mina "Margery" Crandon a fake.
