Please join us on Wednesday evening when The Rt. Rev. M. Thomas Shaw will join us for dinner and for worship.  It is our opportunity to express our appreciation to him for his ministry as Bishop of the Diocese of Massachusetts and to worship with him during Holy Week.

Food is needed for the food pantries that Grace Episcopal Church supports. Food items may be placed in the baskets just outside the main entrance to the sanctuary (an usher can help you locate them.)  The item for Sunday, April 13 is cereal.  The item for Sunday, April 20 is tuna.

Passion Play 2014 by the Parable Players

The final Passion Play rehearsal is this Saturday, April 12 from 10AM to noon.  Please be on time!

PASSION PLAY 2014  SUNDAY (April 13th) PERFORMANCE  SCHEDULE:
8:30 - 9:30 AM.....Costuming in Commons Room
9:30 AM ..............Line up in front of church for parade to St. Joseph's for 'Blessing of the Palms' followed by return parade back to Grace Church
10:00 AM ............Go to your starting place for the play. We are the "Gospel" during the 10:00 AM service.
*********Return Costume to Choir Room following performance for "gold' coin!

Thank you for being a part of Passion Play 2014! Together, we will give Grace Church a  GREAT dramatic telling of the Passion of Christ!

 

Children's Holy Week Service and Activities 

Friday, April 18, 5:30pm-6:30pm
Join in this time to mark Holy Week for Children. We will include elements from Holy Thursday and Good Friday services geared for Children.

Registration is now open for Summer Camp! Camp is for kids entering 4th grade and older. You can find more information at www.bchcenter.orgMost Grace Church kids are signing up for July 6-12th this year, but others are signing up for other weeks as well.  Please see Noah for information on scholarships, or for more information on Summer Camp.

 

Help Grace Church Send a Kid to Camp!

Grace Church contributes almost $192 per child from Grace Church who goes to Camp on a scholarship (the Diocesan Camp Scholarship Fund pays $191, and families pay the same).  The vast majority of our kids receive a scholarship.  You can help send a Grace Church kid to camp with a contribution to the Grace Church Camp Scholarship Fund.  Please speak to Noah (noah@gracemedford.org) for more information.

BISHOP SHAW'S VISIT TO GRACE CHURCH

Wednesday in Holy Week, April 16

Bishop Shaw will be visiting Grace Church for the final time before he retires in September.  He will be coming Wednesday in Holy Week.  Please save the date for this special visit from Bishop Shaw as he completes his 20 year ministry with our Diocese.

Chasing Ice Film Screening

Wednesday, April 30th at 6:45PM

Acclaimed photographer James Balog was once a skeptic about climate change. But through his Extreme Ice Survey, he discovers undeniable evidence of our changing planet. In Chasing Ice, Balog deploys revolutionary time-lapse cameras to capture a multi-year record of the world's changing glaciers. His hauntingly beautiful videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate.

 

Help prepare the church for the Easter Vigil and our Easter Sunday services

On Holy Saturday morning, April 19 beginning at 9:00 AM, The Grace Church Altar Guild will gather at church and set the altar and prepare the flowers for the Easter Vigil.  Please join us if you would like to help.  There will be a short Holy Saturday service at 10:00 AM for the group.

 


Book Club 

Grace Church Women's Book Club meets monthly at 7 pm on the third Thursday except August. Any woman is invited to attend any meeting. On May 15, we're reading Someone by Alice McDermott.  For more information about meetings please contact Genita  at pawleyslegacy@verizon.net

9:00 - Noon - Spring Belle Isle Marsh Cleanup  organized by Friends of Belle Isle Marsh. Meet at John Kilmartin Walkway across from Short Beach at the Winthrop-Revere (Beachmont) town line.
