Welcome!
Please join us at Grace Church.
On Sunday, we celebrate the Eucharist at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.  Sunday School begins promptly at 9:45 AM.  The Grace Church Annual Meeting will take place immediately following the 10:00 AM service.  Childcare and children's activities will be available during the meeting.

Sunday Evening Worship at 5:00 PM.
Who says pop music can't be spiritual? Have you ever wanted to sing your favorite songs in worship? Well, now's your chance!  We will be having Playlists in Epiphany at our 5:00 worship in the parish hall. This week we will be featuring a Sarah Masciave's playlist. Come join us for this fun and delightfully unorthodox way of worshiping and celebrating the Epiphany season!

Volunteers needed for
"Wednesdays at Grace" Community Meals

Why do we have a community dinner on Wednesday nights at Grace Church?
  • For our kids! The children of the parish make friends, learn about God and eat a healthy (more-or-less!) meal.
  • For us! Eating, learning and serving together we build friendships that let us share life's joys and challenges.
  • For God! God wants all of his people to live together in love, and he is pleased when we do. "Wednesdays at Grace" provides our parish with the opportunity to experience "heaven on earth": all of God's people eating, laughing, learning, sharing and living together.
We ask that each family host a meal twice each school year (from September through May).

There are many different ways that this can be accomplished:
  • Pay and cook yourself.
  • Buddy up with another family (especially if this is your first time - we can pair you up with someone who has done it before - which is a nice way to get to know new people!)
  • You can offer to pay but not cook, or
  • You can offer to cook but not pay.
General guidelines on cooking for a large group of people:
  • COST: Price range can vary from $100-200 depending on the meal
  • QUANTITY OF FOOD: the amount of people who attend is about 70 servings on average
  • RESOURCES: For help calculating portions, use Allrecipes.com. Google is perfectly acceptable for brainstorming what to cook.
  • TIME COMMITMENT: If you are intending to cook at Grace, plan on being there between 3-4 p.m.  If you are bringing pre-cooked food, arrive by 4:30 to heat up. If you are ordering food, arrive between 5:00 and 5:30.  These times are somewhat flexible depending on what is being made.  You may also call the church ahead of time and request the oven to be turned on.
  • CLEAN UP: We ask that folks who were not a part of the meal preparation also pitch in to help clean up. A suggested method for clean-up is rotating individuals or families.

Dates needed:

  • February 26
  • March 12
  • March 19
  • March 26
  • April 9
  • May 7
  • May 14

If you would like to sign up for a date or offer to pay for a meal please email Rachael (rachael@gracemedford.org) or Cheryl Woodbury ( woodburyc@comcast.net). You can also sign up on the bulletin board near the parish office.

Bible Study on the Gospel of Matthew

Jan. 29, Feb. 5 and Feb. 12

Rachael Pettengill-Rasure

For the first couple centuries Christians considered the Gospel of Matthew to be the most important of all four gospels.  It contains the story of Jesus' birth, teachings on the law, stories of his ministry, and an account of His death.  Please join us during adult ed for this three week Bible study on the Gospel of Matthew led by Rachael Pettengill-Rasure.

There will be no Wednesdays at Grace on Wednesday, February 19th due to school vacation week.

Gospel Vespers in Honor of the 25th Anniversary of Barbara C. Harris' Consecration
On Sunday afternoon,
Feb 16 2014, at 4 pm at St. Paul's Cathedral, Boston.  The service will be a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Barbara Harris' consecration as bishop which occurred on Feb 11, 1989.  The service will feature the choir of St. Paul's AME Church who sang at her original consecration but Barbara has planned a service filled with hymns and so we will all be singing.   Bishop Shaw will offer his reflections on her ministry and their friendship and The Rev. Canon Ed Rodman will preach. At the Gospel Vespers service we will have an opportunity to honor her anniversary and thank her for all she's given us as our bishop.

The Greening Grace Committee Wants You!
The Greening Grace Committee has run a number of successful projects and programs in recent years including Green Up Clean Up, the Terracycle alternative recycling campaign, bringing in guest speakers and the installation of Grace's solar array. Under the leadership of Jonathan and Alicia Hunt, the committee won a leadership award from Interfaith Power and Light for its work. The Committee is looking for new members to work on ongoing and new projects. Please talk to Jonathan (jmhunt@mit.edu) or Alicia (iggy@alum.mit.edu) if you are interested in getting involved with environmental issues through Grace Church.
