"Sundae Sunday" on November 24th.
An annual tradition, we will end Stewardship season with turning in our pledge cards and an ice cream sundae at coffee hour.
Outreach Corner

Grace Church will be helping with a Thanksgiving dinner at St. Luke's Community Kitchen again this year.    There are several ways to help:

Provide green beans - these can be brought to Grace Church on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. You can also donate money for veggies. Just place cash or a check, clearly marked "For St Luke's Thanksgiving" in the collection plate, or give to someone on the Outreach Committee.

Provide cans of whole cranberries - 6 cans needed

Provide apple pies - 4 needed

Provide aerosol cans of whipped cream - 6 needed

Help serve!  Volunteers are also needed to help out on Thanksgiving Day. 6 volunteers and 6 alternate volunteers needed:  2 volunteers (2 alternate volunteers) for 8-11AM shift, and 4 volunteers (4 alternate volunteers) for 11AM-2:30PM shift.  Alternate volunteers will be used if original volunteers are unable to come; final schedule will be established on 17 November.

The next opportunity to help at St. Luke's Community Dining is November 30.  Please contact Brenda Pearson at
if you are interested in volunteering or have questions.

Food is needed for the food pantries that Grace Episcopal Church supports. Food items may be placed in the baskets just outside the main entrance to the sanctuary (an usher can help you locate them).
The item for Sunday, November 17 is coffee.  The items for Sunday, November 24 are Jelly or peanut butter.

There is a basket at the back of the sanctuary to collect donations to help victims of the natural disaster in the Philippines.  Please make checks payable to Episcopal Relief and Development, with a notation that it's for the Philippines in the memo line.  Thank you!

The Giving Tree

Grace Church is partnering with the Medford Family Network (MFN) again this year to provide Christmas presents (warm winter clothes, toys and games) for Medford families in need.  Here's how it works:

  • The Giving Tree will be up in the parish hall by the end of November
  • There will be stars on the tree, each representing an item that Marie Cassidy from the Medford Family Network has on her "wish list" for Medford families during this holiday season (for example, the star will say "doll for a 2-year-old")
  • You can take a star and sign the star list (which will be near the tree) - so we'll know who took which star
  • Purchase the item on the star, and place under the tree (unwrapped) along with the star by Sunday 15 December
  • The Rite 13 class will wrap the presents, and the Outreach Committee will get them to the MFN

Preparing for Advent for all ages

November 20

Join us for an evening of family fun and creativity ! All adults and children's classes will be gathered together in the parish hall to take part in activities to get ready for Advent, the season of preparation before Christmas. We will make Advent wreaths, play games (like Advent Trivia!) and prepare ourselves for the holiday season. If you are able, please bring $6 to help offset the cost of supplies for wreaths. Talk to James or Eva if you have questions!

Parish Prayer List

During the season of Advent we will be reading all of the names on the parish prayer list during worship. In preparation for this Advent, all names on the prayer list will be removed after November 17.  If you have names you would like to remain on the list after then, please contact Carol in the Parish Office at office@gracemedford.org.  Names usually stay on the list for three weeks, unless the office is otherwise notified.

A History of Grace Church

This Sunday, November 17th from 2:00-4:00, The Medford Historical Society and Grace Episcopal Church will present A History of Grace Church.  Featured speakers include Mayor Michael McGlynn, The Rev. Richardson church and a display of artifacts.  The event is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be served.

The Grace Church Women's Book Club meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 pm (except August and December) at a member's house.  For more information about the Club or the location of a meeting, contact Genita in church or at pawleyslegacy@verizon.net. All women are welcome to any meeting even if you aren't a member of Grace Church.

On November 21 we're reading Between Heaven and Mirth by James Martin.  This year the Club decided to meet in December and have another movie night, on December 19, movie yet to be decided. And on January 16, 2014 we're discussing Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard.

KOKA CHRISTMAS WREATHS

Is it too early to think about Christmas Wreaths?  Well, not for the elves who work for KOKA.  This year we will be performing our usual duty and providing wreaths for those who order them.  See the order form here or look for it in weekly bulletins in the coming weeks.

Grace Church is going Caroling
Join us for a festive afternoon of caroling and hospitality on Sunday, December 15 from 1:00-4:00 PM as we make stops to sing and visit our parish home bound, as well as a local nursing home. We hope you will join us in demonstrating our care for one another and for some of the dearest members of our Grace community. Please RSVP to Eva at eva@gracemedford.org
