Please join us at Grace Church. 
On Sunday, we celebrate the Eucharist at 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.  Eva Englert, Micah Project Fellow will preach.  James Liberge will offer a children's sermon.  The children will follow the Crucifer out following the Gospel reading and return during the Peace.  Following the 10:00 AM service, The Rev. Derrick Muwina will bless the Grace Church Garden.

The "Vestry Person of the Day" this Sunday is Sean Kerans.  The Rev. Derrick Muwina, our Sabbatical Priest is our Celebrant.  For more information about Grace Church during the sabbatical time, please see the Sabbatical Guide here.
Outreach Corner

Food is needed for the food pantries that Grace Episcopal Church supports. Food items may be placed in the baskets just outside the main entrance to the sanctuary (an usher can help you locate them)
The items for Sunday, June 9 are peanut butter or sunflower seed butter.  The item for Sunday, June 16 is spaghetti sauce. 
Kids Corner 

Next Sunday, June 16 the kids will be planting in the Grace Church Garden.  Please have them dress appropriately.  James Liberge and Eva Englert will meet the children outside in front of the church near the garden boxes at 9:45 AM.  The children will return to the service at the Peace. 

 

If you would like to sign your kids up for camp or you would like to sponsor a child to go to camp, please contact me at james@gracemedford.org for more information.  Grace Church pays $192 for each camper that attends the Barbara Harris Summer Camp.  If you would like to contribute to our camp scholarship fund please see James or place a check in the offering plate on Sunday.  Please mark the check in the memo field "camp scholarship".  

 

Anderson Scholarship Applications  

are due June 10

Applications are now available for students pursuing continued education in the Fall of 2013 and want to apply for the Anderson Scholarship. Printed applications are in the Parish Office above the mailboxes or by email by contacting Carol at office@gracemedford.org.  They are due to the Grace Church Office by June 10, 2013.

 

Eligibility & Requirements

Per the conditions of the donor, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  1. Be an active member (or family or friend of an active member) of Grace Church.
  2. Enrolled or recently accepted in an institute of higher learning.
  3. Copy of College Acceptance Letter
  4. If already enrolled in a college, submit a copy of the upcoming course listings or unofficial transcript.
The applicant should be a student in good standing, participant in active community service, including church, community, and/or school programs.  Preference will be given to applicants who have actively participated in Grace Church programs.  Contact Branwen Smith-King for more information.

Vacation Garden School 
Vacation Garden School is coming up! July 31-August 2 from 9:00AM-1:00PM, James Liberge and Eva Englert will be leading activities and games around gardening and creation themes for grades 1-6 at the church. The program is free and there are 15-20 spaces available.  A registration form will be available beginning Sunday, June 9.   See Eva Engert or James Liberge for more details.

Book Club 

This summer the Grace Church Women's Book Club is doing something a little different from our usual meetings. On June 20, we're watching the film Moonstruck and will discuss it after. And on July 18 we're reading Common Threads, a collection of 10 poems from the Mass Poetry Festival. They'll be emailed to those participating. The Book Club welcomes any woman to join us at any time. If you want to participate please contact Genita in church or at pawleyslegacy@verizon.net for meeting locations and to get a copy of the poems.

  

Grace Church is hosting this month's
Regional Youth Day on June 22 as part of the Office of Youth Ministry for the Diocese. This month's theme is God's Green Earth: Caring for God's Creation. Speakers include Bishop Bud Cederholm, Dawn Tesorero of St. John's in Jamaica Plain, and Eva Englert here at Grace. There will media components, small group discussion, as well as a chance to dig in the garden! All youth and youth mentors from around the diocese, especially this community, are welcome to attend.The event will be

Grace Church Celebrates Summer!

The summer is approaching quickly, and Grace Church has events planned throughout so we can all stay connected!

  

End of School Picnic following the
10 am service on Sunday, June 23.
Burgers, hot dogs, drinks and chips will be provided.  A free will offering will be collected to cover the cost.  If your last name begins with A-Q bring a salad or side dish, R-Z bring a dessert! 

Dining with Grace

There will be a number of picnics over the summer - more may be scheduled!  Sign up sheets will be in the parish hall by early June along with the time and place of the picnic.

Summer Worship Schedule

Our Summer Worship Schedule begins on July 7 with one service at 9:00AM.  This adjusted schedule allows 8 and 10 o'clockers to get to know each other, and also helps to beat the summer heat. 

 

Help Tend the Garden!

The Grace Church garden has been planted! We are now looking for interested folks to take on watering, weeding, and harvesting for the upcoming months. Don't worry if you're not a gardener- anyone and everyone is welcome and encouraged to help! Look for a signup chart in the parish hall. Talk to Eva Englert (eva@gracemedford.org) if you'd like to help!
