Welcome!
Please join us at Grace Church. 
On Sunday, we celebrate the Eucharist at 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.  We welcome veterans from American Legion Post 45 to our 10:00 AM service on Sunday.  There will be a children's sermon given during the 10:00 AM service on Sunday.  Children will follow the Crucifer out of the service following the Gospel reading and will return at the Peace.

The "Vestry Person of the Day" this Sunday is James Kossuth.  The Rev. Derrick Muwina, our Sabbatical Priest is preaching.  For more information about Grace Church during the sabbatical time, please see the Sabbatical Guide here.
Outreach Corner    

  

The next opportunity to help at St. Luke's Community Dining is May 25.  Please contact Brenda Pearson at brendapearson@comcast.net if you are interested in volunteering or have questions.

 

Food is needed for the food pantries that Grace Episcopal Church supports. Food items may be placed in the baskets just outside the main entrance to the sanctuary (an usher can help you locate them)The item for Sunday, May 26 is peanut butter or sunflower seed butter. The items for June 1 are jam or jelly. 
Kids Corner 

If you would like to sign your kids up for camp or you would like to sponsor a child to go to camp, please contact me at james@gracemedford.org for more information.  Grace Church pays $192 for each camper that attends the Barbara Harris Summer Camp.  If you would like to contribute to our camp scholarship fund please see James or place a check in the offering plate on Sunday.  Please mark the check in the memo field "camp scholarship".  

 

Anderson Scholarship Applications  

are due June 10

Applications are now available for students pursuing continued education in the Fall of 2013 and want to apply for the Anderson Scholarship. Printed applications are in the Parish Office above the mailboxes or by email by contacting Carol at office@gracemedford.org.  They are due to the Grace Church Office by June 10, 2013.

 

Eligibility & Requirements

Per the conditions of the donor, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  1. Be an active member (or family or friend of an active member) of Grace Church.
  2. Enrolled or recently accepted in an institute of higher learning.
  3. Copy of College Acceptance Letter
  4. If already enrolled in a college, submit a copy of the upcoming course listings or unofficial transcript.
The applicant should be a student in good standing, participant in active community service, including church, community, and/or school programs.  Preference will be given to applicants who have actively participated in Grace Church programs.  Contact Branwen Smith-King for more information.

Vacation Garden School
Come be a part of our first 3-day children's summer garden day program, which will be held from July 31-August 2 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Rising 1st-7th graders will participate in garden crafts, games, take field trips to some local Medford gardens and even do some planting in Grace Church's new garden!  Be on the lookout for registration forms.  See Eva Engert or James Liberge for more details.

Class on the Episcopal Church

Are you interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church? Margaret Smist & Rachael Pettengill-Rasure will be teaching a class on the Episcopal Church this Spring. The class will take place on Sundays at 8:45-9:45am on April 21st & 28th, May 12th, and June 2nd & 9th. If you are new to the Church OR if you have been part of the Episcopal Church for a while but want to learn more about the tradition you are encouraged to join us. Book Club

 The Book club meets on the third Thursday at 7 pm at a volunteer host's house. On June 20 we'll watch and discuss the film Moonstruck (an hour and 42 minutes). We welcome any woman to join us any month.For more information about the club or our meeting locations contact Genita in person or

Community Garden

Calling all gardeners, families and healthy food lovers! Come join us for Planting Day on

June 1 from 10AM to 1PM.Come out and meet some new folks, get your hands dirty and be a part of this new amazing opportunity in the Medford community! Bring along your shovels, rakes and gloves!

 
We're raising funds to purchase necessary supplies (soil, plants, tools etc.).  Help us to make the Grace Church garden a reality by bringing a donation (whatever your budget will allow) OR a contribution of any of the garden supplies on the list below. 

Requested Supply List

·         Soil- flower and vegetable garden soil; we need 25 bags, 2-cubic feet's worth in each)

·         Tools (20 spades, shovels, and/or rakes) 

·         Seedlings

·         Watering cans

·         Trellis for climbing plants

·         6 pieces of 8-inch long UNTREATED wood (cedar is good), or 4 pieces of 12-inch that can then be cut into the 4-inch sides of the beds, plus a bit extra for the supports

 

Grace Church Celebrates Summer!

 The summer is approaching quickly, and Grace Church has events planned throughout so we can all stay connected!

  

End of School Picnic following the 10 am service on Sunday, June 23.   Burgers, hot dogs, drinks and chips will be provided.  A free will offering will be collected to cover the cost.  If your last name begins with A-Q bring a salad or side dish, R-Z bring a dessert!

There will be a number of picnics over the summer - more may be scheduled!  Sign up sheets will be in the parish hall by early June along with the time and place of the picnic.
