Greetings!
We're taking our presentations back on the road in conjunction with the release of our new book in partnership with National Geographic, The Hidden Life of Wolves!
Come see us this weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. Or read on to learn about more speaking engagements in California and our traveling museum exhibit debuting at the Field Museum in Chicago this March! See below for a list of events.
Our new book makes a great companion to our speaking engagements and exhibit since much of what we present is elaborated upon in the book. Wolves are highly social animals that depend greatly on each other. This biological fact is not taken into consideration in any state wolf management plan. Combining our photography and film in our presentations, we share our experiences during the six years we lived in a tented camp at the edge of Idaho's Sawtooth Wilderness, observing the wolves and gaining their trust. Each presentation helps create a broad public awareness about the social nature of wolves, about threats to their survival, about their importance to healthy ecosystems, and about action people can take to protect wolves. Educating people and changing opinions takes time, but it is happening. Audiences of all ages learn that the wolves being killed in the American West and Mid west are not just numbers, they are brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, fathers and mothers that live together in a strongly socially connected unit. In human terms, they are very much a "family." The "ambassador wolves" of The Sawtooth Pack shift peoples' view of wolves from an abstract concept to animals they now know. As a result, people begin to understand that ALL wolves are like those of the Sawtooth Pack. There are so few people sharing positive stories about these intelligent and misunderstood animals, and so much inflammatory and incorrect information being spread, that we feel obligated to tell others what we know to be factual. Scroll down to read the upcoming schedule! Sincerely,
