Greetings!

We're taking our presentations back on the road in conjunction with the release of our new book in partnership with National Geographic, The Hidden Life of  Wolves!

Come see us this weekend in Charleston, South Carolina.  Or read on to learn about more speaking engagements in California and our traveling museum exhibit debuting at the Field Museum in Chicago this March!  See below for a list of events.

Our new book makes a great companion to our speaking engagements and exhibit since much of what we present is elaborated upon in the book. Wolves are highly social animals that depend greatly on each other. This biological fact is not taken into consideration in any state wolf management plan.

Combining our photography and film in our presentations, we share our experiences during the six years we lived in a tented camp at the edge of Idaho's Sawtooth Wilderness, observing the wolves and gaining their trust. Each presentation helps create a broad public awareness about the social nature of wolves, about threats to their survival, about their importance to healthy ecosystems, and about action people can take to protect wolves.  Educating people and changing opinions takes time, but it is happening.

Audiences of all ages learn that the wolves being killed in the American West and MidMatsi and Lakota winterwest are not just numbers, they are brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, fathers and mothers that live together in a strongly socially connected unit. In human terms, they are very much a "family."

The "ambassador wolves" of The Sawtooth Pack shift peoples' view of wolves from an abstract concept to animals they now know. As a result, people begin to understand that ALL wolves are like those of the Sawtooth Pack.

There are so few people sharing positive stories about these intelligent and misunderstood animals, and so much inflammatory and incorrect information being spread, that we feel obligated to tell others what we know to be factual.

Our New Book - The Hidden Life of Wolves - With National Geographic

With a foreword written by Robert Redford and reviews on the jacket by Jane Goodall and Bruce Babbitt, The Hidden Life of Wolves weaves together the lessons of the famous Sawtooth Pack with the latest scientific research.

It explores the turbulent history between humans and wolves as well as the leading theories of domestication, when our two species learned to collaborate and benefit from one another, leading to the emergence of our beloved family dogs.

This important new book carries the reader through history into the modern day struggle wolves face as they try to return to their critical ecological niche amidst a fury of resistance from those who would rather not share the land or its resources with this keystone predator. Proactive and forward-looking, The Hidden Life of Wolves explains how some ranchers are already coexisting with wolves, demonstrating by example that the hysteria surrounding this animal is unfounded and that a successful future with wolves depends on our willingness to accept them.

Wolves are a unique and amazing family-oriented animals, like elephants, dolphins, whales and gorillas. The key to coexistence with them lies in understanding their complex, yet familiar social ways. The Hidden Life of Wolves carries a powerful message of both our past and the way forward with America's most iconic and highly social predator, the Gray Wolf.
