Overwintering perennials are often susceptible to numerous root diseases caused by various species of Fusarium, Rhizoctonia, and Pythium. Overwintered perennials are often covered and inaccessible to regularly scheduled fungicide treatments. With an application of a preventative fungicide, like RootShield PLUS, these perennials will have a natural defense going through the late fall and into early spring.
RootShield PLUS is active from 48°F-97°F, going dormant at temperatures below 48°F. As spring temperatures warm and plants come out of winter dormancy, so do pathogens. RootShield PLUS will become active also and go to work right away.
Prior to winter covering (atleast 2-4 weeks prior to covering):
Thoroughly drench roots using a solution containing RootShield PLUS WP at a rate of 6 - 8 ozs. per 100 gallons or pot your perennials into a mix containing RootShield PLUS Granules incorporated at a rate of 1.5 - 2lbs per cubic yard.
For an additional 12 weeks of protection, it is recommended that a re-application of RootShield PLUS WP be made as soon as perennials are uncovered and begin putting early spring growth on. Learn More
Chemical Compatibility:
RootShield PLUS is compatible with many chemical fungicides, insecticides, and plant growth regulators. RootShield PLUS Granules can be used as a stand-alone fungicide for root disease control or it may also be part of an existing disease management program. Learn More
