It is often said that the Second Amendment protects the First Amendment.

We need your help to protect our First Amendment right to speak in defense of the Second Amendment.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Bobby Zirkin, plans to stifle committee testimony on SB 1040, the "Terror Watchlist" bill.

This bill is scheduled for a hearing next Wednesday, March 16, 2016.

Time is very short, we urgently need you to take 5 minutes to email the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and firmly, but politely, insist that a full hearing be given on SB 1040.

Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee to Limit Testimony on "Terror Watchlist Bill"

During the Senate Gun Bill hearings yesterday, we were limited to 90 seconds of testimony on each bill and for a group of 5 similar bills we were limited to the same 90 seconds, or about 14 seconds per bill.

It is now questionable whether any organization representatives, much less individual citizens, will be allowed to testify. We will continue to press Senator Zirkin, Chairman of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee for clarification on this point. Your help is needed.

The following advisory has just been posted on the hearing schedule for bill hearings on March 16th and 17th:

Please note:  For Senate Bills with a number higher than SB 968 and scheduled on March 16, the Committee will receive testimony from the sponsor or the sponsor's designee, and limited proponents and opponents when appropriate. Written testimony is welcome. Witness signup is available for anyone who wants to record a position.
