"Gun Bill Day" Hearings

"Senate Gun Bill Day" - Wednesday - March 9, 2016 @ 1:00 PM - Room 2 East
Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee

The Committee hearing schedule calls for 17 bills to be heard, so plan on a long day in Committee.

"House Gun Bill Day" - Tuesday -
March 15, 2016 @ 1:00 PM - Room 100
House Judiciary Committee
"Gun Bill Friday" - Committee Hearing on HB 1000 a Debacle for Gun Control  Advocates

The sponsor of HB 1000 and his entourage of supporters had egg on their faces when they were questioned by Delegates Rey and Parrott who pointed out that the bill language will not do what its supporters claimed.

HB 1000 was presented as a bill to prevent access to firearms by persons on the terrorist watch list. Had the sponsor and his supporters bothered to read the actual language of their bill, they might have noticed that the bill only prevents persons on the terrorist watch list from getting permits to carry a handgun. It does nothing to prevent the purchase or possession of a handgun or any other firearm.

New District 14 Delegate

Last week, Pam Queen was sworn in as the new Delegate filling the vacancy which resulted when Craig Zucker became the Senator representing that district.

Delegate Queen has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee.

The AGC Legislative "Email Your Legislators System" has been updated to reflect these changes.
Changes in House Committees

Delegate Pam Queen has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee.

Delegate Geraldine Valentino-Smith has reportedly been reassigned from the House Judiciary Committee to the House Appropriation Committee. (Note: this assignment has not yet been officially confirmed.)

The AGC "Email Your Legislators" system and all files on the website have been updated to reflect these changes.
