Senator James Brochin Sponsors More Useless Gun & "Crime" Bills
Senator James Brochin, who reversed his position and supported SB 281, the most devastating attack on the rights of law-abiding citizens in Maryland history, is now attempting to "make nice" with "gun" and "crime" bills that are symbolism over substance.
SB0407 Public Safety - Handgun Permits
, seeks to give the Maryland State Police (MSP) up to 4 months to issue or deny a permit. Currently, the MSP must act in a reasonable time, which it has not. Under SB0407, the MSP will be able to delay the process for up to 120 days, thus denying citizens any recourse for at least 4 months. This bill is offensive to law abiding citizens. Criminals are guaranteed a speedy trial, carry permit applicants will be guaranteed a 4 month delay.

SB0136 Crimes - Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Crime - Diminution Credits and Sentencing, eliminates so-called "good time" credits for crimes involving a firearm. This bill characterizes firearms crimes as more severe than the exact same crime involving knives. SB0136 vilifies the tool rather than the behavior; this is the hallmark of the anti-gun mindset.

Texas Court Rules "in State only" Purchase Law is Unconstitutional
By Kelly Riddell - The Washington Times - Wednesday, February 11, 2015 "A federal district court in Texas overturned a 1968 gun law prohibiting the sale of handguns to out-of-state residents, granting those who live in Washington, D.C., the ability to travel to an out-of-state gun store, buy a handgun and bring it home without a middleman." A stay on the order pending an appeal by the U. S. Justice Department is to be expected. |
