Buyer Beware - Training for Handgun License to Purchase
We are aware that at least one organization is offering State of Maryland Firearms Safety Training with the following statements: - "....the only provider of the Maryland State 4 Hour Minimum Training requirement to purchase regulated firearms."
- "This class will satisfy the legal requirement of regulated firearms training in the State of Maryland."
There are a number of exceptions to the training requirement. These exceptions can be found in SB 281, Page 28 lines 20-30 and continued on Page 29, lines 1-16.
At this time, SB 281 has not been signed by the Governor, and none of the COMAR regulations have been promulgated; much less reviewed and approved. Therefore, the training course outlined on Page 28, lines 1-17 of SB 281 has not yet been established.
