Customer Service Tips

Avoiding the Most Common Mistakes of Meet and GreetsThe last thing you want is for your customers to get turned off in the first few moments of interacting with your company, but it unfortunately happens all the time. Making a mistake at the start of the customer service transaction can drive a customer to simply choose to take their business elsewhere. To avoid these relationship-damaging mistakes, follow these simple customer service tips: Customer Service Tip 1: Do Not Ignore Waiting Customers Sometimes you are too busy with current customers to be able to help a waiting customer immediately. Even in those situations, you should never ignore a waiting customer. Establish eye contact, give a wave, or say a word or two to let the customer know that you are aware of them and will get to them as soon as you can. Customer Service Tip 2: Avoid Getting Distraction It is easy to become distracted by other customers, other responsibilities, and the variety of activities involved in customer service. When customers see that you are distracted, they sense that they are not your first priority. Customer Service Tip 3: Do Not Focus on Other People While Helping Customers It is a challenge to make every customer feels equally valued, and some customers do tend to try to push their way to the head of the line. However, don't let these customers overstep earlier customers. Instead, say a few friendly words to the individual to indicate that you will help them when you are finished serving the current customer. Customer Service Tip 4: Act Enthusiastic and Excited Put some energy into your greeting and come up with something more creative than, "May I help you?" Make it a personal challenge to say something specific to each customer. It will make the meet and greet portion of the sales process more interesting and rewarding.

FEATURED SMALL BUSINESS
Occasionally we are in contact with a small business that we feel is rare and pure enough to share with all. We are proud to say that SOBU is one of those business.
Husband and wife duo Laleh and Alessandro Latini launched SOBU in 2011 with their first product, the Junk in the Trunk Bed with Storage. With Alessandro's furniture and architecture background, Laleh's photography and graphic design experience, and a combined client list that included Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, West Elm and Design Within Reach, it was a natural progression for the two.
Laleh and Alessandro now live in the East Bay with their two kids, one lucky black cat, four chickens and a colorful and lively assortment of fish.
Here at SOBU, we believe the world is a miraculous place and we are all so lucky to be here together! As passengers, we share the responsibility of enjoying our time here, as well as passing along our respect for each other and our precious earth to the next generations. In every piece of furniture we create, a spirit and character is bestowed that will travel along with it into your home; from our initial sketches, into the craftsman's hands, and to the final journey through your door. Each piece is branded with the SOBU spirit as well as a unique marker that identifies it as a handmade product of exclusive and limited lineage.
At SOBU we believe in using plantation grown, reclaimed and FSC certified lumber. Each species of wood has it's own natural character and variation, and we prefer to simply apply water-based sealers and traditional wax finishes. We don't fill knots and season splits with epoxy or putty, so you can see and experience the real materials. We use fabrics with natural fibers like cotton, linen and wool whenever possible and if we can find recycled aluminum and steel we use it.
They are opening a store in Historic Old Oakland, 465 - 9th Street, Oakland, CA 94607
