PLC's Impact on Clients' Lives Featured in Outlets Around Country

Consumer Unit quoted and cited in Orange County Register,
New York Times
, La Opinion and other publications.

As PLC continues to celebrate our 35th Anniversary and build upon the legacy of positive impact on the Orange County community and beyond, news agencies have taken notice of the unique role the organization plays in improving people's lives. From precedent-setting victories on behalf of immigrants to the successful representation of veterans and non-profits fighting for affordable housing, PLC and our pro bono partners have garnered headlines in addition to triumphs in the courtroom.

Most recently, PLC's Consumer Unit has generated a lot of media attention for its work on behalf of Orange County's most vulnerable. Just this week, PLC and our client, Barbara Hughes, were quoted in MarketWatch about the student debt crisis. Our clients include: a mother fighting Orange County for "unremittingly pursuing legal actions against disadvantaged individuals"; an administrative worker from Buena Park contesting a debt she did not owe, but a debt collection agency still garnished from her wages; and students affected by the closing of several for-profit schools and the student loan crisis.

Led by Directing Attorney Leigh Ferrin (she also serves as PLC's Pro Bono Director) and staffed by PLC staff attorneys EmmaElizabeth Gonzales and Kari Gibson, the Consumer Unit works closely with the private bar and the courts to provide high quality legal services to Orange County residents.
