Take a moment to look around and see what's new, in and around Downtown. There are plenty of activities to choose from in December!
 
Visit downtown with your family this holiday season, and vote for your favorite downtown holiday light display for Mayor Ivy Taylor's Light Up Downtown holiday contest. Individuals can vote daily for their favorite lighting displays online at www.LightUpDowntownSA.com. Winners will be recognized by Mayor Taylor at New Year's Eve Celebrate San Antonio. Voting runs through Dec. 21. Visit our Facebook page, and use the hashtag #SAMayorLUDT to share your favorites after you vote!
 
Join city officials and community members at the Second World Heritage Symposium. The conversation will focus on working together to create a meaningful plan for locals, our community and our guests. The purpose of the Symposium is to gather input from the community as well as to learn how you, your neighbors and your small business can benefit from the new opportunities that will evolve from our World Heritage designation. The Symposium takes place on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at STEM High School, 4040 Apollo.
 
The City of San Antonio's popular "pop up shops" are back this winter with the OPEN Holiday Market. From Dec. 11 through Dec. 19 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., OPEN will activate four vacant storefronts in Downtown San Antonio providing locals and visitors alike with a unique holiday shopping experience. To kickoff the event, join us for a "Progressive Opening Party" on Dec. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. - a great way to OPEN the week! Guests will enjoy live music, festive eats and treats, and favors from market vendors such as leather handmade goods, women's fashions, fresh flowers, bath goods, home wares, candles and more! The "Progressive Opening Party" will take place at the following locations (in this order): 140 E. Houston St. Suite 40 & 41, 231 E. Houston St., 115 E. Travis St. Suite 109. Experience the biggest free New Year's Eve celebration and fireworks extravaganza in Texas at Hemisfair. With live music on three stages, carnival games and rides and delicious festival food, this downtown fiesta is the place to celebrate the New Year. The party begins on Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. and continues through the midnight Valero Fireworks Extravaganza. Click here for more information. 

Artist Kelsey Montague visited San Antonio to complete three downtown interactive murals (Travis Park, 217 Houston Street and Houston Street Garage) commissioned by the City of San Antonio. The public is encouraged to post pictures with the murals on social media under the hashtag #whatliftsyou. The murals will be up for a limited time, so don't miss them!
