Welcome Our Newest Staff Member -
Jamez Ahmad
|
We wanted to take a few moments to officially welcome Jamez Ahmad as a new member of the CCC family. Jamez joined us July 8 as the new Operations and Marketing Coordinator for the Center. Jamez completed their master's degree at the University of Southern California in the field of Critical Studies at the School of Cinematic Arts. Jamez is also an alumnus of UCSD's Muir College, graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in History (East Asian History concentration) and a minor in Film Studies. Jamez interned as an undergraduate student at the LGBT Resource Center serving as the Trent Lawley Volunteer Intern and the as the Rainbow Newsletter Intern. Jamez' interests focus on international LGBT representation and accessibility of these resources to global LGBT communities. Jamez is also from San Diego County. Be sure to stop on by and say hi to Jamez!

Congratulations to our Block Party Prize winners! Kimberly, Monica, Nikaria,Saniya, and Victoria (names in alphabetical order)
Thanks to countless donations from many of the wonderful businesses on campus, the Cross-Cultural Center was able to provide a plethora of prizes to new students last week. Our grand prizes were donated by Chase Bank, USe Credit Union, and Salon 101.
Over 300 people participated and attended the event, it was a great kick off to a new year!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Yen Le Espiritu as this academic year's Faculty in Residence. Dr. Espiritu is a professor in the department of Ethnic Studies and an alumna of UC San Diego. Her previous book is the award-winning Home Bound: Filipino American Lives across Cultures, Communities, and Countries.
We are excited to host her new book launch Body Counts: The Vietnam War and Militarized Refuge(es).

He has published widely on second language writing in various journals and edited collections in applied linguistics, rhetoric and composition as well as TESOL, and has received a number of prestigious awards for his publications.
