Today's throwback is a picture from the CCC's memory vault. This picture was taken during a field trip, "Beyond La Jolla", to the Black Womenhood Exhibit at Balboa Park in April of 2009. Be on the lookout for our upcoming "Beyond La Jolla" field trip to the Frida Kahlo Exhibit at Liberty Station on Saturday, March 1. Free tickets will be available for current UCSD students. UCSD is pleased to announce an inaugural graduate student conference in feminist and queer of color critique, which will take place May 2-3, 2014. The conference seeks to open dialogue about the intersections of women of color feminism and queer of color critique. Graduate students from UCSD and elsewhere are invited to participate in our two day conference, with a keynote and a closing musical performance. We are honored to have Professor Sharon Holland from Duke University as our keynote speaker.

Open Conversation: Merging Identities

We often discuss the existence of multiple identities coexisting within a single person and the work required to have others recognize those multiple identities. Rarely do we discuss the work required to coordinate those identities within one's self. Please join fellow graduate students in an open dialogue facilitated by Dr. Doriane Besson (UCSD CAPS) as we discuss how we merge our racial, professional, scholarly, sexual, activist, gender...identities.

Chancellor's Office - Diversity Internship

This internship will be a unique opportunity for a staff member to get direct experience in event planning for Chancellor's Office Diversity events such as: Black History Month, Cesar E. Chavez Celebration, CA Native Day Celebration, Asian Pacific Islander Month, and Disability Awareness Month. This position will be working closely with university leaders as they plan these events and will assist with all aspects of the planning for these events to include administrative and financial support, outreach, event logistics, and financial processes. The Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) is seeking volunteers to assist with the preparation of UC San Diego's 2014 Women's Conference. This highly popular annual conference is tentatively scheduled for mid-May and will be drawing around 600 people from our UC San Diego community. This half-day conference is part of UCSD's ongoing commitment to staff professional development and cannot be achieved without a highly dedicated group of volunteers.
