"Courage (from latin: coeur): to tell the story of who you are with your whole heart."
|
By Angelica Perez
I recently came across this definition of courage in Brene Brown's TED talk "The Power of Vulnerability." Brown is a professor at the University Of Houston Graduate College Of Social Work and does research on human connection.
Being in the position as a facilitator for ETHN 198- In lak'ech: exploring our stories and identities through art, her research really resonated with me. She puts into perspective how society has conditioned us to reject vulnerability, even though we live in a vulnerable world; perpetuating a cycle of disconnection and a loss of practice of compassion. - Read More
