Asian Model Minority: One Final Program
|
By Kevin Pham
The internship at the Cross-Cultural Center is coming to a close! What a better way to use the E-News as a transition out of the internship. It hasn't hit me that the internship is coming to a close. I will no longer see staff and fellow interns, community that genuinely cares about me, on a daily basis. Having the program internship throughout the year has really developed my Asian American (specifically Vietnamese American) identity. I have always wanted to study the idea of model Asian minority and discuss/research some of the struggles that Asian Americans face. Throughout the year I have had a chance to research this, and coordinate a yearlong series of workshops relating to model Asian minority pertaining from academics, family, higher education, pressures, etc. That said, my time coordinating Asian Model Minority Series as programming intern will end with a final program, my self-initiated project. - Read More
