Queer People of Color Alumni Project
|
By Neftali Valle
Hello Community, My name is Neftali Valle and I am one of four Social Justice Educators at the Cross Cultural Center. This being my fourth (but not final) year at UCSD, I have come to appreciate the community work done at all levels, whether it be being out and about marching on the streets, creating flyers, organinzing talks, and keeping community grounded with the theoretical framework and personal anecdotes. But I wonder how have alumni and past generations been able to cope with the difficulties of being a student activist. This is why, more than ever, I appreciate the visits and advice given to me by alumni who have gone through similar struggles. - Read More

Campus Black Forum
Wednesday | January 23rd | 5pm
Cross-Cultural Center Library
Campus Black Forum was started by Dr. Phil Rafael in the 1970's as a space in which students, faculty, staff and community members of African decent could come together in an informal setting to discuss issues impacting the African American community.
The topic of discussion will be racism in the classroom and we are hoping to have supportive faculty present who can participate in the conversation as students share experiences they've had at UCSD. Our hope is to validate students in their experiences and explore ways that they can effectively address these issues as they come up in the classroom.
