SPOTLIGHT FEATURE
"Passing Down the Legacy"
Friday | February 24 | 3-4pm
Cross-Cultural Center Comunidad
Provided by Joseph Ramirez

"Passing Down the Legacy" follows the Bridging Communities youth program in Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco. Bridging Communities was established in response to a number of hate incidents against the American Muslim community in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Recognizing the similarities that Japanese Americans faced in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor ultimately resulting in their
incarceration, Bridging Communities was meant to build solidarity and
partnership between Japanese American and Muslim American community. Questions? Contact Linda Chang at Lic017@ucsd.edu. For event info, visit the SPACES website at spaces.ucsd.edu

UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS

Breather Series: Yogayoga

Friday | February 24 | 12-1pm
CCC Comunidad

Please join us for a FREE hour of vinyasa yoga, a faster-paced "flowy" type of yoga that focuses on moving with the breath. It's a good starting point for those just starting out, for those who assume that it's boring and slow, and for folks who say they don't want to try it because they're not flexible enough. Bring your yoga mat if you have one and wear comfortable clothing. Limited yoga mats and water will be provided. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me at violetag@ucsd.edu.

Sisters of Selma: Bearing Witness for Change

Film Screening

Tuesday | February 28 | 12pm

CCC Comunidad Room

After the violence of "Bloody Sunday" in 1965, Catholic sisters from around the country followed their faith to join the voting rights protest in Selma, Alabama. Never before in American history had vowed Catholic women made so public a political statement. Part of UCSD's Black History Month Celebration and co-sponsored by the Catholic Student Community, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and the Newman Center. For more information call 858.534.9689.

The Uses of Anger

Wednesday | February 29| 3-4pm

Cross-Cultural Center

The Social Justice and Diversity Peer Educators present "Uses of Anger". Join us for dialogue and share your insights! Inspired by Audre Lorde's work, the Cross-Cultural Center Social Justice and Diversity Peer Educators present an interactive workshop exploring the uses of anger and social justice matters.

Breather Series: Movie Night

Thursday | March 1| 6:30-8pm

CCC Comuniad All

The Overnight Program invites admitted high school seniors from San Diego, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area onto our campus to experience the university environment and campus life at UCSD, network with other admitted high school seniors and current college students, and learn about campus resources. This year we are expecting to accommodate 175 high school seniors. There are a number of ways UC San Diego students can get involved.
