SPOTLIGHT FEATURE
Knowledge is Power: Politicizing the Personal
Provided by Nancy Magpusao

The banning or burning of books or literary pieces is nothing new. To do so has meant, and still means, upholding power structures or a particular social script that undermines or silences disenfranchised, dissident voices. Rather than having an inclusive conversation about the lenses and lived experiences through which these works view the world, policymakers decided book banishment within the school curriculum was a swifter reaction and one way of leveraging control of knowledge: access to it, its contents, and limiting its engagement in education. - Read more

Spotlight Feature Disclaimer:
The Spotlight Feature is a space where we invite the entire community to reflect & provide thoughts on topics that we at the Cross-Cultural Center are currently thinking & talking about. The CCC strives for meaningful, productive dialogue and context with one another. Please provide your insights on our Tumblr site and follow us for future uploads! peace. love. JOY. always!

UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS

Breather Series: Yogayoga
Friday | February 3 | 12-1pm

CCC Comunidad Room

Please join us for a FREE hour of vinyasa yoga, a faster-paced "flowy" type of yoga that focuses on moving with the breath. It's a good starting point for those just starting out, for those who assume that it's boring and slow, and for folks who say they don't want to try it because they're not flexible enough. Bring your yoga mat if you have one and wear comfortable clothing. Limited yoga mats and water will be provided.

Breather Series: Pilates

Thursday | February 9 | 10:45-11:45am

CCC Comunidad Room

Feeling stressed and need some self-care after all those midterms? Come let your muscles stretch at a FREE Pilates class. Pilates is a form of exercise that emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strengthening and flexibility. This class is great for anyone wanting a little exercise or even just a small break. Bring your mat if you have one and wear comfortable clothing. Limited mats and water will be provided. Hope to see you there! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me at [email protected].

Forgiveness: Pathway to Fullfillment

Wednesday | February 8 | 12-1pm
