Meditationyoga Breather Series

Come to our breather series to find that peace of mind away from the chaos of academic or office life. Facilitated meditation by Dr. Elsie Curry from Psychological and Counseling Services (CAPS). What does it mean to be Filipin@ American? This course will be focus on the ourstory, identities and issues of the Filipin@ American community. Through scholarly readings, personal narratives, and media clips we will explore theories and concepts that serve as the basis of what shapes our community, and be able to connect to our own experiences in comparison. We will cover topics such as American Imperialism, ethnic/racial identity, gender and sexuality, and performativity. The class will also facilitate the growth and development of personal identities through weekly reflections, discussions, activities and one-on-ones in an intimate setting.


The class will be 4 units, pass/no pass and will meet on Wednesdays, 4-7PM at the Cross-Cultural Center Comunidad Small.

Why? A "One Year Later?" talk will provide us with a space for updates, community-building, dialogue, reflection and healing. We hope that creating a space for a "One Year Later?" dialogue will be an opportunity for us to discuss how we as students can collectively focus our energies.

Join us as we explore the nation's first exhibition to tell the stories of race from the biological, cultural, and historical points of view providing an unprecedented look into race and racism in the US. The LGBT Undergraduate Scholarship Program encourages gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender UCSD students to apply for the six scholarships made possible by generous contributions from many people, including Chris Arrott, Michael Marx and Donald Marshall, Russ Ty, and from funds in memory of Tracee Parsons and Stephen P. L'Italien, Jr. The objective of the undergraduate scholarship program is to recognize and encourage academic excellence and to offer financial support to meritorious students. All 2011-2012 LGBT Scholarship applications will be submitted to the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center (LGBTRC) and are due on March 11, 2011 at 4:00pm.
