 | | Teaching Diversity Conference 2011
Thursday | January 27 | 8am-5pm Cross-Cultural Center
Sponsored by Muir College and the Cross-Cultural Center. Many educators and students discuss the importance of incorporating diversity into the college experience, but fewer of us know how to do so. The purpose of this conference is to share strategies and best practices for teaching diversity in community college and university classrooms. We want to know about the pedagogic approaches teachers use and how those approaches are influenced and perceived by students, including resistant or disengaged students. Also, we want to know how teachers evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching methods. Presenters are encouraged to bring current students/alumni who would share how their perspectives altered as a result of having taken such a course. Conference organizers recommend that all attendees read "A Well-Rounded Education for a Flat World" prior to the conference. Many of the authors' ideas helped to frame Teaching Diversity. For more info please visit the website. |
