NEW HomeSteadNet
HomeSteadNet is getting a new look.  The new site is modern, user friendly, and features Plain Text Search (similar to Google or other browser searching).  The new site does not have any 'backend' or reporting features.  We wanted to let you know this will be going away when the new version of HomeSteadNet goes live.  The expected live date for the new site is Monday, April 25.

NARNOTESNAR Notes
New HUD Guidance
You may have heard that HUD recently provided new guidance urging housing providers to exercise caution when implementing criminal history policies or practices to make housing decisions.  Here are links to the HUD Guidelines and NAR resource document on this topic.  NYSAR General Counsel, Anthony Gatto, Esq., also offers a summary.

NYS Budget Approved
The budget does not contain any increases to the state's mortgage recording tax or real estate transfer tax, nor does it contain any measure that would increase license fees for real estate sales persons or brokers. Other items include an increase in minimum wage, paid family leave and changes to STAR program. A summary can be found here.

National Flood Insurance Program Changes
Under new updates to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) some property owners may see minimal policy cost increases, while others, such as clients with buildings in high-risk areas built before that community's first Flood Insurance Rate Map (pre-FIRM), will experience larger premium increases.
An online toolkit can be found here.
You can also find more details in the recent Program Changes NFIP Bulletin.
