OPEN HOUSE SAFETY ALERT!
We received a call from the Irondequoit Police Dept and one of our member firms about thefts at two open houses in the West Irondequoit area last Sunday. One salesperson heard a guy upstairs rummaging through drawers/cabinets and called 911.  The Irondequoit PD answered the call and questioned the guy.  He signed in using a fake name (Sean Walter).  He is around 5'6", age 40 or so, has very short hair and was driving a newer, compact Chevy that is light cream colored.    A second salesperson in that area reported missing prescriptions at an open house.  Please be on the alert and do not hesitate to call 911 if you encounter any suspicious activity at an open houses.  Please make sure you are following your office/personal safety procedures and staying alert to protect yourself, fellow REALTORS® and your clients. Please be careful, everyone!

NAR: FHA REFORMS NEEDED IN CONDO FINANCING

National Association of REALTORS® President Chris Polychron testified before the U.S. Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance in support of legislation that would help expand housing opportunities, stressing the need for reform of current Federal Housing Administration restrictions on condo financing.
"Condominiums are often the most affordable home ownership option for first-time buyers, small families, single people, urban residents, and older Americans. Unfortunately, current FHA regulations prevent buyers from purchasing condominiums, harm home owners who need to sell their condominiums, and limit the ability of condominium projects to attract resident buyers."
