NYSAR CALL FOR ACTION
Oppose Mandatory Fire Sprinklers in New Residential Construction
Take Action Now to oppose a mandate being considered by the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council that will require the installation of fire sprinklers in all new one and two-family homes and townhomes in New York. The decision to install fire sprinklers should be a consumer choice. Nothing currently prevents consumers from installing sprinklers if they so desire based on their economic resources and construction design.

Please send a letter to the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council, Secretary of State Cesar Perales and Governor Andrew Cuomo by clicking here and tell them to remove the fire sprinkler mandate from the 2015 International Construction Code currently under consideration.

SAVE THE DATE: TUESDAY JUNE 9

Is NYSAR Lobby Day in Albany. As we do every year, GRAR will be sending a group to participate.

Watch here and on www.GRAR.org for details.  If you are interested in coming along, email Karen Herbst or call 585-341-2123.

PRESIDENT OBAMA SIGNS TRIA

President Barack Obama signed the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2015, into law. This action renews the program for six years and makes a few changes to further protect the federal government from risk including raising the trigger amount for the program from $100 million to $200 million, and increasing the mandatory recoupment amount from $27.5 billion to $37.5 billion, along with decreasing the government's share in losses from 85 percent to 80 percent.
