Members of the GRAR Technology Committee, serving as GRAR 'Technology Ambassadors', are creating a series of brief training videos that we'll host on our YouTube page. This is all in an effort to help members use all the tools they have available to them as GRAR members.  Here is the third video in our series...

ARTICLE1GoNYSMLS App Tips From Our First Tech Tuesday session
The response to GRAR's new Mobile MLS app, GoNYSMLS, has been outstanding. During our first Tech Tuesday session on April 1 (see below for next session), the Tech Committee discussed the new GoNYSMLS app with attendees and collected the following tips that we'd like to share:

GoNYSMLS Tips:

* Go to the Android Market or IOS App Store and download the app. When logging in for the first time, be sure to select Agent Login and if your MLS Password has letters in it (ex. 123EAST), the letters in your password must be entered in as CAPS to get into GoNYSMLS.

*If you'd like to change the phone number showing in the Contact Me section of the app, contact Member Services and ask to get your Direct Phone # changed at 585-292-5000 or GRARHelpDesk@grar.net. Note this will affect your listings in the MLS as well.

* To search by Address, Town, Village or School District or ML#, just use the search box up top.

*When searching with the app, you may use an asterisk as a wild card, if needed in the search box up top (ex. Read* for any version of Mt Read - will also show towns or schools that contain 'Read').

* To clear the search, there is a Reset button on the bottom of the search menu.

*To share the app with your clients, click on the Share button. If you have a Twitter and or Facebook account and have installed the app on your device, there is one more step before you can share using those apps... go to Settings on your IOS device and log into Twitter and/or Facebook from there to allow your device to work with our mobile app.

*To get to a user manual, click on 'Feedback' while in the app and then the "Please check out our support page" link or go to this link now and pick your device type.

Article2Avoid Tech Support Scams
As two of our staff members have received these calls in the past year, we thought it a good time share this Microsoft article with you.  Cyber criminals don't just send fraudulent email messages and set up fake websites. They might also call you on the telephone and claim to be from Microsoft. They might offer to help solve your computer problems or sell you a software license.  Once they have access to your computer, they can do the following:
  • Trick you into installing malicious software that could capture sensitive data, such as online banking user names and passwords. They might also then charge you to remove this software.
  • Take control of your computer remotely and adjust settings to leave your computer vulnerable.
  • Request credit card information or direct you to fraudulent websites and ask you to enter credit card and other personal or financial information there.
Neither Microsoft nor their partners make unsolicited phone calls (also known as cold calls) to charge you for computer security or software fixes.  Please read on for tips to avoid these very common scams.
