May 2017 Newsletter

Greetings!

First of all, thank you so much to everyone who participated in Spirit Week. It was a lot of fun.

Recital season is here. We are so excited for the "15 Years Ago Today..."  recital which is fast approaching. Please remember that attendance at your DRESS REHEARSAL(S) is MANDATORY. Please review your recital handbook for rehearsal and recital instructions and don't forget to bring your "chaperone pass" to the dress rehearsal (found on the back of your recital booklet). The label on the bag of all costumes has the day and times for rehearsal and recital.

Now is the time to make sure your costume, costume pieces, tights, and shoes are all together. Please remember to label everything and there is NO nail polish, underwear, or earrings on the dancers the day of recital. Make sure you have the proper color tights. This information is on your costume label. The correct tights can be purchased at "Footlights" in downtown Frederick.

The last few weeks of classes are very important for cleaning and practicing the recital dances. All recital information is available on our website for your convenience.  As always, if you have any questions, please come to the front desk, they are happy to help.

Sincerely,
Gina Korrell, Artistic Director

RECITAL NEWS

Recital Booklets
Everyone should have picked up their recital Booklet by now. If you have not, please stop by the front desk at your earliest convenience! This booklet is vital to the recital.

Recital Tickets are on sale NOW at the Weinberg center for the Arts.

Dress Rehearsals are MANDATORY for participation in the recital!  Make sure you check for your dress rehearsal day & time on your costume label or on the report with your Recital Booklet. Allow plenty of time to anticipate traffic and getting ready.

Proofing the Program - a copy of the recital programs is available on the studio bulletin board now. Please check for your child's name for their dances as well as the spelling of their name. This will come down May 13.

General Reminders - Students MUST have the proper shoes to participate. Students in PreDance and Combo classes must replace tap shoe ties with elastic (if they are doing a tap routine). This is also required for the recital.

Recital Check List
As the recital is approaching, this is a great time to make sure you have everything.
  1. Costumes- Before you leave the house make sure you have every costume piece, all of your accessories, an extra pair of tights if needed, an extra pair of socks if needed, and your appropriate shoes. You don't wanna get all the way down to the Weinberg and realize you forgot something.
  2. Hair- HAIRSPRAY! You will need a lot of hairspray and bobby pins. Having your hair out of your face and slicked back looks really nice and professional on stage.
  3. No nail polish.
  4. Water bottle with your name on it.
Even though the recital seems so far away, it is better to have these things ready ahead of time so recital can be stress free.

ATTENDANCE & TARDINESS

We all have busy lives in today's world. Attending dance classes is also being part of a team. Many students are arriving late to class on a weekly basis.

Students arriving 15 minutes late are not allowed to participate in class and must watch the rest of the class. Each time a student is late it counts as half an absence and only 3 absences are allowed during the recital season. Missing more than 3 classes can result in your child not being allowed to participate in the recital.

The student's attendance is imperative for blocking and their presence helps the other students in the class.
PLEASE ATTEND AND BE ON TIME FOR CLASS EVERY WEEK.
