2016 Design Conference: Accessible Residential Dwelling Units  
 
Date: Tuesday, October 11, 2016 
Time:  8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
Ala Moana Hotel - Hibiscus Ballroom

The all-day conference features:
Guest speaker: John Catlin, LCM Architects  
The sessions will focus on scoping, technical provision for 
designing residential units in compliance with the Fair Housing Act 
and the DOJ's 2010 ADA Standards

NEW DOJ SETTLEMENT AGREEMENTS
 
~ Mid-America Center ~
   
 

The Department of Justice (DOJ) entered into a settlement agreement with the City of Council Bluffs, Iowa regarding their assembly area seating and ticketing at the Mid-America Center

~ University of Alabama at Birmingham ~

The DOJ entered into a settlement agreement with the University of Alabama at Birmingham regarding the physical accessibility of their facilities for individuals with disabilities. The University will be undertaking a complete architectural review of their facilities and report on their findings within eighteen (18) months. The report must identify:
  • Each facility surveyed
  • Every element within the facility that is not in compliance with the applicable accessibility standard
  • A timeline for remediating all of the items in the report
